00:00I was not out when I made a 400.
00:02I was very sad when I got out on 350, to be honest.
00:06I don't really have any coach other than my dad.
00:09Like, not any primary coach.
00:30I think when I first started playing cricket, I didn't have anybody to throw balls to me.
00:57I used to hit on the ball and the ball used to come back to me.
01:01So I used to try to keep the streak going on.
01:04So I used to give it 50-60 balls continuously, just so that the streak could go on.
01:09So that's how I basically started playing cricket.
01:12And then my dad saw me one day and then he thought,
01:15it's pretty cool for a three or four-year-old kid to keep continuously doing that.
01:21So that's when he actually thought, okay, he might be good at this.
01:25And that's when we actually started practicing and having fun.
01:29I know your dad's sort of been your coach your entire life, Shubham.
01:32But have you had any other coach at any point?
01:34And how does your dad deal with Ravi Shastri?
01:37No, actually, I don't really have any coach other than my dad.
01:41Not any primary coach.
01:42But in the under-16s and under-14s, we used to have state coaches and stuff like that.
01:47But my dad has been my primary coach throughout.
01:51I made like in our under-16 districts, that's like a pretty competitive cricket.
01:56So the players don't usually retire after getting a 50 or 100.
02:01They keep on playing because obviously,
02:02they want their team to win.
02:04It's a three-day matches, like a 90-over game.
02:06So I made a 350 in one game.
02:10And then I made a 400.
02:12But yeah, players in India, I don't think anyone,
02:16any batsman likes to retire after getting a 50 or after getting 100.
02:20With those innings, did you just sort of throw it away at the end?
02:22Were you disappointed or?
02:23I was not out when I made a 400.
02:26I was very sad when I got out on 350, to be honest.
02:31I have not been told a major technical change in my game.
02:36Like for a long, long time.
02:37I can't remember someone telling me not to change a major thing in my betting
02:41for the last two, three years.
02:43So I think the way they coach here is,
02:45I think it's a little bit different.
02:47Because the players, they play so much of cricket
02:50and they've been playing for so long.
02:51It's a little bit difficult for them if you ask them to change their grip
02:55or to change, to make a huge technical change.
02:58So the coaches tend to make changes that would be more of tactical
03:07or the technique that they have.
03:08They'll try to strengthen the players around that technique
03:12rather than to change the whole thing and to start from scratch.
