00:00It's especially important because today around the world we're seeing so many Muslims being
00:07targeted with violence.
00:30No one, no one should just discriminate against or oppress or be oppressed for their religious
00:56beliefs.
00:57Nobody.
00:58Nobody.
00:59And today we also remember all those who are not able to celebrate this holy day, including
01:05Muslims and, and, excuse me, including Uyghurs and Rohingyas.
01:12And now all, all those who are facing famine, violence, conflict, and disease, and we honor,
01:18we honor the signs of hope and progress toward the world we want to see, including the ceasefire,
01:23which allowed people in Yemen to honor Ramadan and celebrate Eid in peace for the first time
01:28in six years.
01:29At the same time, we have to acknowledge that an awful lot of work remains to be done abroad
01:40and here at home.
01:42Muslims make our nation stronger every single day, even as they still face real challenges
01:47and threats in our society, including targeted violence and Islamic phobia.
01:53Making our nation more equitable, more inclusive for Muslim Americans is an essential part
01:57of the enduring work to form a more perfect union and more, that's what we seek.
02:03You know, we're the only nation in all the history of the world that's been organized
02:09not based on a religion, race, ethnicity, geography, but an idea.
02:16Think about it, an idea.
02:18We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men and women are created equal, endowed
02:23by their creator with certain inalienable rights, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness,
02:29et cetera.
02:30We've never met that goal, but we've never walked away from it.
