Food, musical performances, fashion and ambitious entrepreneurs, here's what Brut saw when we visited one of Delhi's Pride events.
Transcript
00:00It's pride month and Brute is attending an event that celebrates the LGBTQI plus community.
00:17The event is happening here in New Delhi and here's what we have in store for you guys.
00:30Vibrant performances,
00:42eclectic style,
00:55and passionate entrepreneurs.
01:00Pride for me is fighting against discrimination.
01:19For me pride means freedom. You can express however you want
01:22and don't care about anybody else and their judgment about you.
01:26One pride is a celebration.
01:30I never thought I'd be able to wear these clothes in such a crowd without getting any judgmental stares.
01:37I still wear these clothes but still I get that judgmental stare.
01:42But here I'm feeling very safe.
01:44Also when I was coming here, the auto drivers were asking me where I was going and what's the event.
01:51So I told them that Tinder has organized an event for the queer people.
01:56It felt so good that the auto drivers were appreciating it.
01:59And with the trans rights being so bad in our country, we need to work it out and be ourselves
02:06and like sort of c**k all the time everywhere at the workplace, at home, outside because we are here
02:14and we are queer, baby!
02:16Hey!
02:18I thought there would be no nudity here.
02:20They lie so much!
02:26It's been such a fun evening hanging out with my friends and just drinking and chilling and dancing.
02:31So what I'm selling is, it's Fantistry, right?
02:34I'm selling pleasure and I'm selling fashion.
02:37It's the first brand that is selling leather as kink.
02:41So exclusively it is a fetish brand.
02:43I was honestly, I was a little bit scared because it's the first of its kind in India.
02:46I mean if you talk about kinks and fetishes, nobody does that in India, right?
02:50You're already raising eyebrows around me, I'm sure.
02:52When I was a child growing up, I couldn't ever believe that in India I would see, I would be a queer
02:56and I would have a space which was so safe, so happy.
03:00Instead of like moving around and dancing, I'm a queer person.
03:04While we need to acknowledge the joys of being queer,
03:09we also need to acknowledge and hold space for dreams and vulnerability that our queer bodies carry.
03:18So these represent the disabled queer bodies.
03:24Like if you look at this one, this specific one, it talks about how rest is revolutionary.
03:30And as a disabled folk, we have a very limited amount of spoons if we say that
03:36to do the task and like set up a stall or whatever.
03:39So we talk about how rest is revolutionary and like how queer bodies and disabled bodies are made for these.
03:47These paintings also represent full intimacy and desire.
03:53For example, this represents, you know, disabled suffering desire.
