00:00Great to have Coach Tim Bowden on the Bowden Blitz.
00:03Of course, you can check out the show on SportsGrid.
00:06It's badass.
00:07And it's even better when he's on with us on C2C on Fridays.
00:11Coach, you know, I got to tell you, like, I'm a gamer.
00:16So, like, I work when I'm sick.
00:18I don't believe in missed shows.
00:20I would have showed up for your games
00:21at Auburn at Jordan Town with the flu.
00:24I still would have played like Michael Jordan.
00:26But tomorrow, I'm going to be sweating again profusely
00:31because I'm going to be swearing profusely
00:34while I'm watching my number five Indiana Hoosiers take
00:38on number two Ohio State in Columbus.
00:42I just don't know.
00:43They've never beaten them ever.
00:45How are they going to go to the shoe and beat that team?
00:48I just, they're not.
00:50You know, it's Kurt Cignetti and what
00:52he's brought to that program.
00:55And the style that he has, the command of the game
00:58that he has, you know, I think he's probably
01:00the more experienced, better on-field coach
01:03than Ohio State's coach.
01:04He's more experienced.
01:05He's 63 years old.
01:07His father was a great coach who coached me.
01:09He was raised around football.
01:11He'll have a very, very good team here.
01:13I'm not sure they will win, but I'm taking the points.
01:15I will tell you, I'm taking the points with Indiana.
01:18You know, when you knew him, his dad, when he was a kid
01:23and his dad was a legend,
01:24did you ever think you'd see the day
01:26that Kurt would be making eight million a year?
01:29Yeah.
01:30No, I left way too soon.
01:32I promised you the SCC level.
01:34No, I was five years older than him.
01:37And so, but he was always coming up, always hanging around
01:40but his dad was really gifted.
01:42I'm talking about an offensive genius.
01:44My dad loved him.
01:45I was a GA there.
01:45I called his dad Frank Cignetti
01:47because he clicked that remote control back
01:50and forth so many times.
01:51One of the best things.
01:52And then that's what Kurt was raised around.
01:54That's why he will be prepared for this game.
01:57And what I think can happen when you're the underdog,
02:00and he's had a week off, he'll put in some wrinkles.
02:03He'll break some tendencies.
02:04And if he can get seven or 10 points
02:06off of things he's doing differently
02:08and Ohio State says, well, let's just come in there
02:10and play our game.
02:11We're better.
02:12Let's don't make mistakes and win.
02:13That could be costly to him.
02:14And I've seen it happen a lot.
02:16Wow, I can't wait for the game, honestly.
02:20I'm just losing weight.
02:21Just thinking about it right now.
02:22How about Miami tomorrow?
02:24Any problem with Wake?
02:26Yeah, Miami, well, as long as Miami plays defense
02:30like it has, and they're a bottom half
02:33Division I defense ranked wise.
02:35No, Miami's got so much of Cam Ward,
02:37but it's all about his supporting group,
02:40whether they beat the line or not.
02:42Because Wake Forest can score some points,
02:45but Cam is just too good.
02:46He's going to win the game for them.
02:47Wake Forest is going to beat the spread.
02:50They're going to take the points
02:52and you got to go over on this game.
02:53You got to bet the over on this one.
02:56Penn State, number four at Minneapolis
02:59against P.J. Fleck's Gophers.
03:01Can they pull off the upset?
03:03No, I don't think so.
03:04They can keep it close.
03:06And I take them with the spread as well.
03:08P.J. Fleck, I coached against him
03:10when he was at Western Michigan.
03:11He's a tough man.
03:12You know, he's kind of a cocky guy on the sideline,
03:14but he coaches hard-nosed football.
03:16They're one of those teams that can play teams close.
03:18You never quite know what you're going to get with Minnesota,
03:21but they'll play hard-nosed football.
03:22They'll run the ball.
03:23They have a very good defense
03:25and they'll keep this game close.
03:26But Penn State, again, too much for them.
03:29And Penn State will pull away,
03:30hit a couple of deep passes
03:31and pull away in the second half.
03:32But it should be a close game.
03:34And so I'm going the under
03:35because I just think it'll be a running type of game.
03:38And at least I'll give Minnesota against the spread.
03:41So number 14, BYU is at number 21,
03:45Arizona State and Tempe at 330.
03:48And Arizona State is favored laying three,
03:52even though some people might say that would be an upset
03:56if Arizona State beat BYU.
03:58I'm not so sure.
03:59I think Arizona can beat them, Arizona State.
04:02I've got them winning the game.
04:03They've won their last three straight.
04:05They've won five out of six.
04:06BYU is trending.
04:08They had a bad loss last week to Kansas.
04:11And, you know, BYU was kind of that Cinderella team.
04:13I think they were picked 13th in the conference
04:15in preseason.
04:17They've won a lot of close games.
04:18They became a Cinderella season.
04:20But usually the Cinderella teams like Pittsburgh,
04:22like BYU, when it comes down to playing a lot of teams,
04:25Arizona is trending up, playing great football.
04:27Their quarterback, Levin, has been on fire.
04:30I've got them winning the football game, Arizona State.
04:33You've seen Kansas win at Arrowhead against Iowa State.
04:37Then they beat BYU.
04:38And now they play at Arrowhead again tomorrow
04:41against number 16, Colorado.
04:44Can they screw up Colorado's big plans?
04:48Well, I'm going to go with them.
04:48You know, last week I picked them to screw up BYU's plans
04:51and I picked them to win.
04:53I think I'm going to take them straight up this week.
04:55It's a close spot.
04:56The line's not very high.
04:58They are playing very, very good, too.
04:59They've won two straight.
05:00I think Colorado's won four straight.
05:01They're both playing very well.
05:03I really like, but I've coached against the coach
05:06of Leipold from Kansas.
05:08In fact, he's got my strength coaches
05:09working with their team.
05:10I know how confident they are, how hard they work.
05:13But I think this is a team that had a lot of turnovers
05:15over the season.
05:16They lost a lot of their close games.
05:18And what you've seen the last couple of weeks from Kansas
05:21is the Kansas that you're going to see.
05:22And they're playing at Arrowhead.
05:24They do a great job playing at Arrowhead.
05:26So in the Bronx tomorrow night at seven o'clock,
05:30number 19, an undefeated army at nine and O,
05:34take them in the sixth rank fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
05:37Nine and one, the Irish, the game in the boogie down Bronx
05:42and Notre Dame's laying two toddies.
05:46Well, you know what?
05:47And Notre Dame is two toddies better.
05:49I just, I love these games.
05:50I've coached against army.
05:51I've coached against this quarterback two years ago.
05:53They sensational.
05:55They didn't beat army.
05:56Notre Dame beat Navy because Navy had six turnovers.
05:59Army's not going to turn the ball over.
06:01And they're going to keep it close
06:02because they go for third downs.
06:03They go for fourth downs.
06:04They do a great job of running the football.
06:06Their quarterback is a veteran.
06:08But when you have a big physical team like Notre Dame
06:10army has not played one ranked team yet.
06:12When you have a big physical team,
06:14they beat you on the offensive and defensive lines.
06:17On offense, they just take off
06:18and push those guys off the ball,
06:20control the football and score points.
06:22And on defense, the way to stop the option
06:24is to get penetration,
06:25make things happen behind the backfield.
06:27Notre Dame will be able to do that.
06:29So I think army will control the ball.
06:31If they don't turn the ball over at all,
06:33and they make a lot of third and shorts or fourth downs,
06:36I'm not saying they can't get real, real close,
06:38but Notre Dame's just got too much talent.
06:41Number seven, Alabama's at Memorial
06:43and Norman against Oklahoma.
06:45And they're laying 13 and a half.
06:47And I think Oklahoma stinks.
06:50I do too.
06:51I've taken Alabama to cover.
06:53You know what?
06:54And Zach Allen, the defensive coordinator
06:56at Oklahoma was my defensive coordinator two years ago.
06:59He's done a great, and they have a very good defense.
07:01The defense has not been their problem.
07:03They can't score.
07:04They can't protect.
07:05They can't do anything on offense.
07:07But the defense will keep it closed for a while,
07:10and they're very good against the run.
07:11But Jalen Melro can beat you with scrambles,
07:15and he outruns you to the sideline.
07:17That's a little bit different than what Oklahoma has faced.
07:20They can't handle that too much.
07:21So eventually, and he throws a pretty deep ball.
07:24So that's the kind of things that will eventually,
07:26Alabama will pull away in the second half,
07:28and they'll cover.
07:29Let's look at some of these other games.
07:31Number 13, SMU in Charlottesville against Virginia.
07:35And they're laying double figures.
07:3710 points.
07:38You know, and I'm just, I'm gonna take that too.
07:42I just think SMU is hot.
07:43They know what's on the line.
07:44Virginia's a good football team.
07:47I don't think, they got a better chance
07:49to beat Virginia Tech in their last game,
07:51and maybe getting six and six for a bowl.
07:53But I just think this SMU team's got too much firepower
07:56on offense.
07:57They're playing too well.
07:58And Virginia has had a great season,
08:00but I just don't see them right now even getting close.
08:03This game means too much to SMU.
08:06Kentucky plays at Texas in Austin.
08:08The Longhorns are laying 10 and a half.
08:11I got 30 seconds, respectfully.
08:14Take the 10, and it takes the Longhorns.
08:15Take the Longhorns.
08:16They also, this playoff stuff,
08:19every game is critical to every single team.
08:21And Kentucky has just had a tough season.
08:23They're a good football team,
08:25but they don't have enough to get,
08:26Texas is gonna run away with this one.
08:28Real quick, I got 15 seconds.
08:30What'd you think of Bryce Underwood
08:32changing his mind and going to Michigan?
08:34I tell you, that's a,
08:35Brian Kelly, if he didn't,
08:37if they didn't owe him so much money,
08:38that was what was holding there at LSU.
08:41But losing him, there's a lot of people
08:43that are gonna want to give him money.
