00:00Oh my God, yeah, D-Dream role.
00:01Welcome to Ms. Mojo. And today, we're counting down our picks for the celebrities who might
00:06have had a sprinkle of that Oz dust if their auditions for the Wicked movie had been successful.
00:10But we both auditioned for the same role, Joe and I. It was for Wicked, actually.
00:15Number 7. Spencer Sutherland
00:18You might know this actor-singer from his 2017 hit Selfish,
00:21or his time on the UK's The X Factor.
00:23Oh, this feeling's cool, you got me selfish. But when I'm Wicked, then it's got me hellish.
00:32Or maybe you spotted him in the TV series I Know What You Did Last Summer,
00:36or Afterlife of the Party with Victoria Justice. While appearing on The Zach Sang Show,
00:40Sutherland revealed that he had actually landed a callback for Fiyero in the Wicked movie.
00:45Even though he felt good about his audition, he wasn't exactly shocked when he didn't get it.
00:49I got a callback for Wicked.
00:51Oh yeah, Fiyero?
00:52Yeah.
00:53Yeah.
00:53I thought it was a great audition.
00:55They saw probably, I don't know, a thousand and a half people for it.
00:58Yeah.
00:58I'm sorry, I know.
01:00It's okay.
01:00Do you really thought you were going to get it?
01:02No.
01:02Although when you come that close, we imagine it's hard not to get your hopes up just a little.
01:07Still, he gave listeners a teeny tiny sneak peek of what his Fiyero might have sounded like.
01:12Maybe I'm crazy. No, I'm kidding, I started doing the whole Fiyero.
01:16Maybe I'm blind. I kind of do something like that in the audition, it's kind of fun.
01:21Number six, Taylor Louderman.
01:23Musical theater fans will know Louderman from shows like Kinky Boots, Bring It On The Musical,
01:28and of course, as the original Regina George in Mean Girls on Broadway.
01:32I am a massive deal. Fear me, love me, stand and stare at me.
01:41She also set her sights on playing Glinda in John M. Chu's Wicked adaptation,
01:45but sadly, it wasn't meant to be.
01:47In a screenshot of an Instagram story,
01:49Louderman seemed to express her disappointment about losing the role to a bigger name.
01:53She opened up about the heartbreak of putting your soul into a project you care about deeply,
01:58while trying your best to maintain a thick skin.
02:00Sounds like someone made the burn book.
02:02I don't care who you are. I don't care how you feel.
02:14Just kidding.
02:15But if she had one, she wouldn't be the only mean girl writing in it.
02:18More on that later.
02:30Number five, Ryan McCartan.
02:33This actor is no stranger to the world of Wicked,
02:35having played Fiyero during the show's 15th anniversary.
02:38McCartan's range is undeniable.
02:41You might recognize him as Diggy Smalls from Liv and Maddie,
02:44or as J.D. from the original off-Broadway cast of Heather's The Musical.
02:59He's kept busy acting on stage and screen,
03:02and even co-launched a YouTube channel called The Stage Door.
03:05It's there that he revealed he had auditioned to play Fiyero in the movie.
03:09You didn't cast me in the movie even though I worked so hard.
03:11That's fine. No hard feelings.
03:14Confirmed I did audition.
03:16Have I said that on this channel before?
03:18No, you haven't.
03:18In a reaction video to the film's trailer,
03:21McCartan jokingly said he had, quote,
03:23no hard feelings toward Chew.
03:24He even hilariously fished for a premiere invite as compensation for the snub.
03:29Little consolation prize.
03:31Maybe a little invite for The Stage Door.
03:34Number four, Renee Rapp.
03:36Her name is Renee Rapp, and she's a massive deal.
03:49We told you there would be another plastic on our list.
03:51Rapp is instantly recognizable for her powerhouse vocals in both The Stage
03:55and 2024 screen adaptations of Mean Girls,
03:58where she played Queen B, Regina George.
04:06Maybe you know her from the HBO teen com The Sex Lies of College Girls,
04:14or perhaps you've been following her music career.
04:16During a Q&A segment on Watch What Happens Live After Show,
04:20Rapp had to break it to a fan that Ariana Grande
04:22had already been announced for the role of Glinda.
04:24Is there any truth to the rumor that you were in the running to play Glinda
04:27in the upcoming film A Wicked?
04:29Um, so, no, because it is Ariana Grande.
04:36But thank you.
04:37She also revealed that she auditioned for the part,
04:39and while she didn't get it, she seems pretty content to have lost out to Grande.
04:44Did you audition for it?
04:44I did.
04:45You did audition for it?
04:46I did, yeah.
04:47Ariana's gonna be... can I tell this?
04:50Yeah.
04:50Okay, she's gonna be f***ing amazing.
04:52Number three, Dove Cameron.
04:54You know Cameron from Liv and Maddie and from Hairspray Live,
04:57where she starred alongside Ariana Grande and original Glinda, Kristen Chenoweth.
05:07She also shared the screen with Chenoweth in Schmigadoon and Descendants.
05:26Cameron is another star who revealed she auditioned to play Glinda.
05:29In 2019, she was already addressing rumors about being cast,
05:33sharing that the role was a childhood dream.
05:36Oh my God, I would love to do it.
05:37I'd love to do it.
05:38I mean, I think every girl, every girl on the face of the planet would love to be a part of Wicked.
05:43More recently, she described the audition process as a journey, saying,
05:47quote,
05:47It was one of the longer processes I've been a part of.
05:50Even though she didn't land the role,
05:51she's ready to be her friend Ariana's biggest cheerleader.
05:54With her ties to Wicked royalty, who knows?
05:57Maybe Broadway will come calling, and she'll still get Glinda-fied someday.
06:01Oh my God, yeah, the dream role.
06:02Number two, Joe and Nick Jonas.
06:05The competition to land a role in the highly anticipated Wicked movie must have been fierce.
06:10Now imagine part of that competition is your own sibling.
06:13Most recently, and we've never talked about this publicly, so I'm gonna say it here,
06:16but we both auditioned for the same role, Joe and I. It was for Wicked.
06:19When the Jonas Brothers popped into Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast,
06:23Nick shared that both he and Joe auditioned for Fiyero.
06:26But no worries, there wasn't much rivalry,
06:28since they both wanted, quote,
06:30someone with the last name Jonas to win.
06:31We're competitive in sports and other things,
06:34but when it comes to our career, I think we genuinely both looked each other in the eye.
06:37We said, like, go in there and kill it, because it's gotta be one of us.
06:39One of us.
06:40It has to be one of us.
06:41Nick also told Variety that he felt he nailed his audition,
06:44adding that it was a role he, quote,
06:46always thought would be fun to play.
06:48While the part ultimately went to Jonathan Bailey,
06:50it sounds like Nick is excited to enjoy his Wicked experience as a fan.
06:54That being said, we never got that call.

07:13Number 1.
07:14Amanda Seyfried
07:16Many of us first met Seyfried as Karen Smith in Mean Girls,
07:19but she's also shown off her musical talent in movie musicals like Les Miserables
07:23and both Mamma Mia films.
07:31Seyfried hoped to add Glinda from Wicked to that list,
07:40sharing that she auditioned while juggling her role in Hulu's The Dropout.
07:44She said she, quote,
07:45bent over backwards for her audition while, quote,
07:47playing the hardest role of her life.
07:49Seyfried also explained that she wasn't totally satisfied with her performance as
07:53Cassette and wanted to show how much her vocal skills have improved since then.
07:57And it seems, the world that I long to see,
08:02out of reach, just a whisper away, waiting for me.
08:08She even joked that the audition still haunts her dreams.
08:11As we know, she didn't land the gig.
08:13Well, as Elphaba says, we can't all come and go by bubble.
08:16I found what I felt like I was born to do.
08:19Do you think they have what it takes to play them on Broadway?
08:22Let us know in the comments.
08:23We'll give you good reviews.
08:25We will.
