Epic sandworm rides across the desert of Arrakis, a thrilling gladiator battle involving a rhino and a display of the unmitigated feeling of pure Anxiety —those are just a few scenes and characters that have entertained audiences this past year, none of which would be possible without the artisans who make the magic happen behind the scenes.

00:00John somehow already has five Grammys and an Oscar and still is seemingly just
00:07getting started. He feels like he's always just getting cooking. We made a
00:11movie together called Saturday Night and when I described to him the way we were
00:14gonna make the movie, that we were gonna make this film that was gonna be highly
00:19choreographed but completely alive in this 360 degree set with 80 speaking
00:25roles all moving simultaneously, every actor working every day, his
00:30response was yeah and we should record we should write and record the original
00:35score live on set and then we did. Every day we would wrap at 6 p.m. and John who
00:42was also playing Billy Preston in the film would go change into his street
00:46clothes, same with his band, and then he would watch an edit of a scene live on
00:51set and then he would just point to his band and go I want you to start on A
00:56flat go to a G then go to a B and you with the shaker I want and he would just
01:03write this score right there in front of all of us and it is that score that is
01:09in the film that you see that you've seen maybe you haven't seen it you will
01:13see and as a result he created the heartbeat of the film.
