00:00A community coming together to remember one of their own.
00:06Jason's always with me, yeah, I'll always honour him and go to things for him.
00:12In a shooting incident last November, Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig died in the line of duty
00:17near Bordertown in SA's Upper South East.
00:20In the small town of Lucindale, where Brevet Sergeant Doig worked for more than a decade,
00:25his presence is still missed.
00:27He was just a great guy.
00:29On the first anniversary of his death, Lucindale hosted a cricket match to give family, friends
00:35and colleagues a chance to share stories.
00:38Jason was involved with the cricket club, cooking the barbecues and helping out around
00:42here whenever he could and had a bit of downtime and yeah, it was probably a little bit fitting
00:46that we were able to organise this day.
00:49In the crowd was Brevet Sergeant Doig's mother.
00:51It wouldn't be his personal goal to be honoured so much, because to him it's just what you
00:59do.
01:00While Brevet Sergeant Doig may be gone, his impact on this town has not been forgotten.
01:05A new scholarship for Lucindale youth embodying the same values that he had has been created
01:10and will be supported for at least 10 years.
01:12Meanwhile, a memorial to honour the late cop is also in the works.
01:16A fitting tribute to a loved member of this community.
