00:00Winter is here. Cold Arctic air is plunging southwards across the UK this week, bringing hazards of snow and ice,
00:06prompting lots of warnings from the Met Office over the next couple of days.
00:10So here are the details. Tuesday morning, snow is likely across northern England,
00:14especially across the high ground, but even to some low levels that could cause some travel
00:18disruption, there's also going to be the risk of ice. Meanwhile, across the North Midlands,
00:22the north of Wales and Northern Ireland, there will also be the risk of snow across the high ground
00:26and sleet and rain towards lower levels more likely. Elsewhere, a mostly fine start with
00:32wintry showers across the north and east of Scotland. Through the day, the rain, sleet and
00:36snow will continue spreading its way southwards across the remaining parts of England and Wales,
00:40the snow mostly across the high ground, rain and sleet more likely to low levels. Eventually,
00:44it clears, leaving sunny conditions and mainly dry weather across the UK, except for wintry
00:49showers across the north and east of Scotland that will continue through the night as well,
00:53bringing the risk of ice there. Frosty elsewhere across the UK through Tuesday night. Wednesday
00:58will be a drier day overall, but wintry showers will still affect coastal parts of the west,
01:03north and east, especially across northeast Scotland. Inland areas will be sunny but very cold.
