00:00Cap, I did allude to this a little bit to you, as the Giants look like they were about
00:05to lose to Carolina, that Daniel Jones might be done.
00:09And I understand that you're well aware of my position, the correct one, on Daniel Jones.
00:14But it's not why I brought it up, Cap.
00:16It's because of the contract situation that I know you're about to let us know could very
00:21well end his time in New York.
00:23Yeah, and Kevin, this is why, okay?
00:25Because we were actually talking last week during the game.
00:28The game wasn't even over yet.
00:30But we saw those dark car with the Raiders.
00:34We saw it last year with Russell Wilson.
00:36And we've seen it with veteran quarterbacks when they have a contract that's, I don't
00:40want to call it detrimental to the team's progress, but when the quarterback goes south,
00:45which Daniel Jones has this season, although he got off to a good start, he struggled so
00:49badly lately.
00:50Then you start looking at the contract.
00:52Like it was well known in the league circles for, since he signed that four-year $160 million
00:56contract that in the third year of that extension, there could come a time where it could be
01:02over for him.
01:03And that's where we are now.
01:04So let's talk about his contract.
01:06So next year, he's got $30 million of base salary.
01:10None of it's fully guaranteed.
01:11However, there's injury protection for the club and for the player.
01:16Let's get to the player part about it.
01:18If he cannot pass a physical in March, $23 of that $30 million is guaranteed for injury.
01:25That means they're going to owe him $23 million.
01:28That's why we saw in Denver, the Broncos went to Russell Wilson in season and asked him
01:33to change his contract to adjust those injury guarantees.
01:37He was not going to do it.
01:38Derek Carr, by the way, refused to do it.
01:41They were gone.
01:42So that's what we face here.
01:44And they face an uncertain future with the success of this football team.
01:48I know Joe Shane, their GM, was interviewed by the media this past week.
01:52And it was a grilling session.
01:53It was partially about Daniel Jones and why the team is so bad.
01:58And the one thing I'll agree with Shane is, it is true, it's not just one thing.
02:01Yes, you start with a quarterback and work your way down.
02:04Kevin, the lack of playmakers on this team.
02:07They're fast at receiver.
02:08I get that.
02:09Theo Johnson, the tight end, has a chance.
02:10But Kevin Singletary is not a starting running back at this level.
02:14The Texans learned that.
02:15That's why they didn't want him back.
02:16They wanted Joe Mixon and that trade they got from Cincinnati.
02:19We're the playmakers on defense.
02:21They have one stud on their offensive line.
02:24That's Andrew Thomas.
02:25Just look.
02:26On the turnpike, off of 95 in Philly.
02:29Why most years, the Eagles, one of the elite teams.
02:32It starts.
02:33Dining noses.
02:34The offensive and defensive lines.
02:36When you're not strong on both, you can't be an elite team.
02:39And let's start with that.
02:41The Giants are not elite on either side.
02:43Dexter Lawrence is great.
02:45What else do they have on the D line?
02:47Look at their offensive line other than Andrew Thomas.
02:49Where do you point on their lines and say, wow, they're elite?
02:52I just mentioned the players who are great.
02:54One of them is out for the season on Andrew Thomas.
02:55It's crazy, too.
02:57They've been trying to fix that offensive line, their cap, for years in New York.
03:00Sometimes you just can't get it right.
03:01It's one of those things.
