00:38Zegler's comments blew up on X,
00:41where MAGA supporters slammed the West Side Story star
00:43and vowed to boycott her live-action $200 million Snow White remake,
00:47which Disney is releasing in theaters in March.
00:50On Thursday night, the 23-year-old actress posted a new message,
00:53"'Hi everyone, I would like to sincerely apologize
00:56for the election post I shared on my Instagram last week.
00:59I let my emotions get the best of me.
01:01Hatred and anger have caused us to move further and further away
01:04from peace and understanding,
01:06and I am sorry I contributed to the negative discourse.
01:08This week has been emotional for so many of us,
01:11but I firmly believe that everyone has the right to their opinion,
01:13even when it differs from my own.
01:15I am committed to contributing positively toward a better tomorrow.'"
01:19Zegler previously clashed with conservatives
01:21after some of her comments about the original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
01:24went viral last year, including what she told Extra about the movie.
01:28"'The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so.
01:32There's a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her.
01:38Weird, weird. So we didn't do that this time.'"
