00:00No bigger game than to the one taking place in Athens. Top Run Tennessee opens as a nine-and-a-half
00:11point road dog over the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia has won seven straight in the series, the last four
00:19by an average margin of victory, coach, of 22.5 points per game. Picked up this fall game
00:25last year in Knoxville, 38 to 10, but the Bulldogs were much more consistent,
00:30especially with their quarterback, Carson Beck, to pull that match up out on the road last year.
00:36They're going to need a much better effort Saturday afternoon against the Volunteers.
00:41You know, you're exactly right. I've been talking for the last couple of
00:45games. We've talked about Georgia is not the national championship teams they were,
00:49but we're not talking about them winning the national championship. We're talking about
00:52beating Tennessee at home to get to the college football playoffs, and I can't see Georgia letting
00:58that one get by. It's a great home field advantage, a great place to play, and they are a
01:03better football team than they played last week. Now, still though, Tennessee, not only are they
01:07moving the ball well in offense, they run the ball about 62% of the time, but they've got a top 10
01:12defense, and so they're going to play the game really tough. I don't see them being less than
01:16nine points, a bit closer than that in the final score, but I see Georgia bowing up and getting
01:22that bulldog out there, and I think they're going to play at home, and they're going to win the game
01:25straight up, but I think Tennessee is going to play this game real close because they're playing
01:29really good football right now. They are, and especially defensively, holding opposing offenses
01:35to less than 3.7 yards per carry. They play solid third down defense, and they're starting to run
01:42the football much more consistently, especially now heading into this ball game. Dylan Sampson
01:48on Saturday night against Mississippi State rushes for 30 attempts, 149 yards on the ground,
01:55does hit paid dirt multiple times. He could catch the football out of the backfield, and you see
02:01their quarterback, Nico, starting to make some plays over the top. He was knocked out of that
02:06ball game. They held him out in the second half. Tennessee still prevailed 33 to 14. They get the
02:12win, but no cover over the Bulldogs. How do you expect their offense to attack Georgia
02:18after watching Jackson Dart and Ole Miss beat up the Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon?
02:23Well, Tennessee, I've studied their offense so much. They spread you out from sideline to sideline,
02:2853 yards apart, so you have to move your secondary out. That's why they can run so much,
02:33but the key is, is defenses fear the pass. Even if they're not passing as much as they run,
02:37defenses have to line up to cover the pass, and again, Georgia had a tough time covering
02:42Ole Miss in those crossing patterns all day, so I would say Tennessee wanted to get the crossing
02:46patterns in, but the biggest thing Georgia could do is maybe look at Georgia Tech not letting their
02:51offense on the field. Now, I don't think they need to run the football, but I think it's important
02:55to mix up the pass and the run. You can't just go out there and say, we're going to run it today.
02:59You've got to throw them first, run on second, decide on third, or run on first, throw on second,
03:03decide on third. You've got to mix it up, so you give yourselves a chance with a great defense
03:08like Tennessee, and I think that's a mistake that Georgia did last week. They opened up the game,
03:12trying to run, run, run, run, run, and they couldn't do it, but when they started to mix
03:16it up, they moved the ball a little bit better. I think you've got to do that against Tennessee,
03:19because it's a strong defense that they have.
03:22It is, and when you watch the matchup play out against Jalen Milrow and the Alabama Crimson
03:27Tide a couple of weeks ago, Alabama had a 7-0 halftime lead, but Tennessee was able to make
03:34halftime adjustments, shut down Tennessee's offense. The athleticism in terms of the RPO
03:39game wasn't there the way it was in the first half, and again, their defense forced the re-announce
03:45against the Alabama offense. Can they do that now against Georgia? And that's what I want to ask you
03:51in regards to Carson Beck, because we brought it up multiple times now. He's not throwing
03:56interceptors. He's not throwing touchdowns. He's throwing more interceptions than he is,
04:01so the risk-reward is always there. Kirby's smart in this offensive staff. Mike Bobo, right? The
04:07former quarterback. He's played. He understands how to get a quarterback out of maybe a little
04:12rough patch. Do you open up the offense early on to get back into a rhythm, or do you feel like you
04:18played this game a little bit close to the vest, run it more, try to get it into the fourth quarter
04:23to make some plays against a very good defense? How do you see the offense of philosophy for
04:28Georgia? Well, you know, let me say this. You mentioned Mike Bobo. He was playing at Georgia
04:33when I was coaching at Auburn a long time ago. Hines Ward right before that, if you remember
04:39those days, but I think you've got to mix it up. I don't think if you come at Tennessee
04:43one-dimensional and you said, okay, we don't want Carson Beck to throw interceptions,
04:47so you got to mix the run in with the pass, but we saw what happened last week against a great
04:52run defense. You can't do it. Georgia doesn't have that good of a running attack. They did
04:56move the ball. They bootleg out to right, bootleg out to the left. I think you must move Carson
05:01Beck out of the pocket because again, he's not a real dual threat quarterback, although he's a
05:06strong runner, but you got to move him around, bootleg right, bootleg right, neck is back and
05:10forth, and mix the run. Like I said before, run on first, throw on second, decide on third, or run on,
05:17pass on first, throw on second, decide on third. Keep it mixed up so you have the defense kind of
05:21second guess you because you want to be one play ahead. If you're not a dominant running team,
05:25you've got to want to run the football to keep the pressure up your quarterback, but you got
05:29to give him passes he can execute and he can complete without throwing the picks.
