00:00Carl Magne's appointment as Gateshead manager was the obvious option in terms of continuity for the club.
00:08His knowledge of the team and experience with the current crop of players could be crucial to success for Gateshead this season.
00:16Magne had departed the club in the summer to join up with former Gateshead manager Mike Williamson at MK Dons and then Carlisle
00:23before returning to his hometown club in October following Rob Elliott's move to Crawley.
00:28But can he be a success in the long term at this club given its aims?
00:37Since his appointment Gateshead have earned two wins in the league alongside one draw and one loss, picking up seven points from a possible twelve.
00:46Midfielder Ben Worman spoke about the transition from Elliott to Magne.
00:52Yeah, of course, I think there was like murmurs of Mags obviously coming in before he did.
00:57And all the lads were anticipating that and very sort of optimistic and happy that that was going to be the next appointment.
01:03So, yeah, I think obviously the start of his reign so far has reflected on why we was thinking that.
01:10And he's obviously just like the management before, a really good guy and has helped us a lot already.
01:15There's obviously naturally going to be tweaks in how he conducts himself.
01:19But I think first and foremost, he's just still the same person as who he was then.
01:24So, yeah, I've enjoyed, thoroughly enjoyed working under him as a gaffer so far.
01:29And I did when he was a coach as well.
01:31Against Aldershot, Gateshead will face a side in the bottom half of the table.
01:35But as Worman made clear, the mentality remains the same regardless of opposition, with the same work being put in on the training pitches.
01:43To be honest, we think we can beat anyone in this league.
01:47So that's always our mindset.
01:49And whether someone's 24th or first, we will always go into the game with that same level-headedness.
01:55And we've got to be, we've got to focus on us.
01:58And if we do that normally, we come out on top.
02:01So hopefully we can do that again.
02:02We have that sort of success on the pitch from doing those extra hours on the training pitch and off the pitch.
02:08So, yeah, there's a lot that goes into it, but everyone buys into it.
02:11And the info is given to us in the right way so that we can do that.
02:16However, the big question, of course, remains that of promotion.
02:22What is the aim this season?
02:23Because, of course, last season you made the playoffs and then we all know what happened there.
02:26The FA Trophy, you won that.
02:28So it's quite a lot to try and top what happened last season.
02:30But you're certainly on the way there, given where you're currently sat in the league.
02:33Yeah, I think there's no hiding that we want to get promoted this season, really.
02:37And I think we're probably on task to do that.
02:39Obviously, if we don't win the league, playoffs is always an option and playoffs can always be unpredictable.
02:45But we just take it game by game.
02:46We know in the back of our minds what we want to do and what we're capable of doing.
02:50So, yeah, just approaching each game as it comes in a minute is what we'll do.
02:55So I think I back us to get where we want to be come the end of the season.
