00:00Hi, I'm Holly Alton, a food and drink writer for National World, and today I'm going to
00:04be taste testing three brand new wines from Aldi's Autumn Winter Collection. Aldi has
00:09released a brand new selection of wine for the autumn winter season and they have kindly
00:13sent me three of the standout wines to try for myself. So let's get into them now.
00:19This is the first wine that I will be trying today. This is Unearthed Vieira Interior.
00:24This is a white wine that was made in 2023 in Portugal. Now what I find interesting about
00:30wines is when they tell you a little bit more information on the back. So if we look on
00:34the back of this wine, it says that it is an off dry, fresh and fruity style that has
00:39citrus and floral flavours, and it's going to be paired with seafood and white meats.
00:44To buy this wine, it is £8.49 from Aldi for a 75cl bottle. Let's go in and give it a taste.
00:52Okay, I've poured myself a small glass and I'm going to give it a sip, but before I do
00:56that, I do always like to give my wine a smell to see what notes are coming through.
01:01Now this does smell like a winner for me. It smells quite fruity. It also smells a little
01:07bit like a Prosecco, so I do like a Prosecco, so we'll see how I feel about that. And when
01:12I poured it as well, it looked like it had a bit of fizz, which I wasn't expecting, I
01:15thought it would be still. So let's give it a sip and see if it tastes as good as it smells.
01:23I really like that. It is a little bit like Prosecco actually, and it doesn't taste too
01:28strong. It goes down very, very easily. I'd like to have a look at what the alcohol content
01:32is actually. So this is a 10.5. Now I actually like a low alcohol content when it comes to
01:38consuming winers. I think it's a little bit easier to go down. However, despite this being
01:44a 10.5, it is really light and tasty. I think this might be a new favourite of mine actually.
01:51Yes, very light, very easy to drink if you're someone that likes a fruitier wine. And yes,
01:57it does have fizz, which makes it a nice sort of alternative to a Prosecco.
02:01Okay, so the next wine is a red. I absolutely love a red wine at this time of year. I think
02:07I'm all about the kind of the way it looks aesthetically, but also the way it feels like
02:12it's a warm, nice sort of wine to enjoy on these colder months. So yeah, I always reach
02:18for a red this time of year. So I'm interested to see what this one is like.
02:22I've actually selected Salas Salentino Reserva. And this 75cl bottle is only £7.69. This
02:29is a really nice bottle as well. I'm a big fan of this label. It looks quite fancy. But
02:33obviously the most important thing is how it tastes. So let's pour a glass. Oh no, you're
02:40a cork. Couldn't get that one open, so that's embarrassing. Next up is this one. And I have
02:47to say I love this bottle. I think it looks really fancy. It would make an excellent Christmas
02:53gift. And yeah, I bet it tastes absolutely delicious.
02:57So this is Aldi's specially selected Cremant du Jura. So this is a Chardonnay and apparently
03:03is actually a dupe for Laurent Perrier. I've never had it, so I wouldn't know. But obviously
03:08for those of us who want to drink a fancy bottle of Chardonnay and can't afford those,
03:13these might be a good alternative. So I've poured myself a glass and I just have a strong
03:17feeling that this one's going to be my favourite. But it might be hard to beat the first one
03:21because that was delicious. Very nice. That one is definitely more of a Prosecco vibe.
03:30Actually I do prefer the first one. The taste I think was a lot fruitier. This one's a little
03:35bit different, a bit more dry. But I think it's a good party drink as well. You know
03:40when you get all the bottles out and have like a celebration. To be honest I definitely
03:44have the wrong glass for this. I think this drink would be better served in the fruit.
03:49But yeah, it is very nice and a good alternative to, like I say, the fancier sort of drinks
03:55like the Laurent Perrier or even your standard Proseccos. This has a little bit of a unique
04:01taste whilst still tasting like a Prosecco that we know and love.
04:06Again though, it is very light and that is something that I have started to look for
04:10in a wine. So for me, very nice. Very, very good and I will be drinking again.
04:15Yeah, I couldn't fault them. I think they all tasted really nice, really unique. I think
04:20the price is really good for what you're getting for the wine. And I think as well, these are
04:25for the Autumn Winter Collection and I think that they would make a great Christmas dinner,
04:31a Christmas party drink. 100%. So yeah, I will be going to my local alley and stocking
04:37up on those for the Christmas season.
