00:00Good afternoon, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers. Lovely to
00:06speak to Shannon. Now, you're with Stage Door Theatre Company, you're at the Windmill in
00:11Littlehampton, and you're finally doing a show that you wanted to do last year. You've
00:16got back to the point where you can, and you're thrilled to be doing it, I guess?
00:21Yeah, absolutely. It's been a long time waiting for this to happen, obviously after the Harvester
00:28burnt down last year, unfortunately, but it's so exciting to finally put it on. At
00:33one point, I didn't think it was ever going to happen, the windmill kept getting delayed
00:36and delayed. So yeah, it's brilliant. And the cast have been waiting so patiently to
00:40get this show back on. It's really good to get back into it.
00:43And this is a comeback for the company, isn't it? It's your first big show for a while,
00:48a quiet time after Covid.
00:50Yeah, absolutely. So, after Covid, we weren't sure if the company was going to start again.
00:56Unfortunately, we lost one of our founders, Mike, throughout the Covid period, and he
01:02was kind of like, one of our main leaders in the company. We put a show on last, just
01:09after Covid, to kind of, it was more of a memorial show for him. And it was brilliant
01:14to get everyone back together. And I think at that point, we all kind of realised we
01:17can't let this fizzle out, we need to keep this company going. And that's kind of what
01:23this show's about, is kind of getting us back on the...
01:25I've been interviewing Stage Door for years. You've got to keep it going, haven't you?
01:29Absolutely.
01:30The point is, you've moved up the ladder, haven't you? You're no longer the kid. You are...
01:36Yeah, I've become an adult. I actually, during this time, I've actually had a little girl
01:42myself.
01:45I actually, she's only 11 weeks old. So I've been, yeah, so I'm directing a show whilst
01:51having a newborn. I had a week after rehearsals began, so it's been busy.
01:56If you can juggle those two things, you can cope with anything, can't you?
01:59It's impressive, yeah.
02:00It's exceedingly impressive, yes. Brilliant. And it's coming together nicely, then?
02:05Yeah, absolutely. The cast have been working so hard, even with lots of changes we've been
02:11adding in. It's, you know, it's part of the past of directing myself and my assistant
02:17director, Emily Rose. We've been tweaking lots as we go along, but it's, yeah, it's
02:22coming together really nicely. I'm really proud of them.
02:24Fantastic. Well, it's clearly an important show for the company and an important one
02:28for you. All very best wishes for it. I hope it goes brilliantly. Thank you ever so much.
02:33Brilliant. Thank you very much.
