00:06United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP29.
00:09Environment Secretary Tony Yululoy-Zaga, who heads the Philippine delegation in Baku, Azerbaijan,
00:15says living with the risks and loss and damage has been part of the Philippine history as
00:19an archipelago.
00:20We therefore have a deep and personal stake in ensuring that the Fund for Responding to
00:25Loss and Damage succeeds.
00:27The fund will pour money into countries suffering from climate change that can't be addressed
00:31by mitigation or adaptation measures.
00:34COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev says the fund will be able to flow by 2025.
00:39Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed a law last August to allow the board
00:43to operate in the Philippines.
00:45The board is composed of 12 representatives from developed countries and another 14 from
00:49developing nations.
