A dad was given a five per cent chance of survival after he was electrocuted by 4,160 volts - and now wears his scars with "pride".
John Pendleton, 36, was working as a rock miner on a piece of heavy machinery - which runs off electricity - when the high voltage entered his head.
He doesn't remember what happened or why but woke up nine days later from a coma - with third and fourth degree burns to 30 percent of his upper extremities.
John had a brain bleed, skull fracture and traumatic brain injury and his wife Tiffany Pendleton, 35, was told he only had a five per cent chance of making it.

00:00So I get this question quite often and it is uh, John how did it feel to be
00:05electrocuted? I don't know I don't know what it felt like but I mean as you can
00:12see definitely wasn't good but um yeah I have no clue what it felt like because I
00:19don't remember I don't remember anything from that day I don't know how it
00:23happened I don't know why it happened what happened I don't know how it felt I
00:28don't know if I shit myself I don't know anything so uh you know the only thing I
00:35do remember is waking up out of the coma in the hospital and then yeah the pain
00:41then that's probably the worst pain I've ever had to go through in my life like I
00:47don't know how to describe it all I can say is I I don't wish it on anybody I
00:53don't wish it on my enemies I don't wish it on no one I mean it is it was
00:59very rough and if it wasn't for Tiffany to be there every day in the hospital
01:03with me I probably would have lost my mind I mean I probably would have went
01:08down a different road but she was definitely supporting me and pushing me
01:12and pushing me and then you know that in the hospital right out waking up you
01:18have one choice and that's either to move forward or nothing at all I mean if
01:23you didn't if you don't push yourself forward to keep going no matter how bad
01:26the pain is you're either gonna be stuck where you are and you're gonna quit and
01:31give up and who knows what will happen then but you know you just have to move
01:40forward and that's that's what I had to do is I just had to push myself and you
01:44know Tiff pushed me and you know my kids and it was very hard it was a very hard
01:49journey so for all those questions of how it felt like I don't know I couldn't
01:56tell you but on our podcast Forgotten Working Class we did have the fireman
02:01who saved me his name is Curtis amazing guy absolutely love him he not only you
02:07know he saved my life but he is just a good good person big heart very humble
02:13just a good guy so we did have him on the podcast as a guest and he tells his
02:19story on when he came to save me and what he saw so I was electrocuted I took
02:254,160 volts atop my head a year out of the hospital after I was healing is
02:32where the electricity hit my skull it absorbed itself so now I do have a hole
02:37in my skull and if you watch close I can move it so everybody does ask me how
02:46do you protect your head are you gonna do a plate all that the plate surgery to
02:50do that is risky in a very long procedure so I'm not sure when I'll do
02:54it but for now I protect my head with a hat every day put it on go outside do my
03:00thing so I have a bump cap that goes in any one of my hats they're not that
03:08expensive comes out and I can put it in any snapback and which is awesome
03:16because I can use any hat I have and I can protect my head every day I found I
03:21have had two other ones that were very thin that just weren't comfortable this
03:26one here awesome I love this one but what I am excited for is that being blue
03:34collar a blue collar company has come out with a bump cap that I'm waiting for
03:41for next year and that is Milwaukee Milwaukee has come out with a bump cap
03:48that looks absolutely amazing it looks super comfortable their demonstration on
03:55it was just insane they put a nail into it didn't do anything so I'm very
03:59excited for them to come out with that because I do want to see it and I am
04:03gonna buy it so Milwaukee if you're watching this if you want me to test it
04:08out you let me know but yeah that's how I protect my head every day I put this
04:15in and I go about my day which you know I definitely was not gonna wear a
04:19helmet every day I told myself I can't do that so I did buy the bump cap
04:25and it's nice because I can go around and in public nobody knows that this is
04:30in my hat so it's nice to feel somewhat normal and walk around I know you know
04:38people do still stare because my scars but this thing's awesome so you know
04:44anybody that needs one they are on Amazon you can type in bump cap insert
04:49hat insert protective hat insert this stuff will come up they're great to have
04:54make sure you get one if you need it
