00:00A designer from Tainan is putting on a show at a Bangkok gallery, highlighting everyday
00:05aspects of Taiwanese culture.
00:07Yang Zhixing is the fourth-generation director of a textile firm in the southern city that's
00:12been in business for a century.
00:15But Yang has expanded beyond textiles into other forms of art, including photography.
00:21For this exhibit, he's prepared cloth printed with a range of Taiwanese motifs, plus photos
00:27and actual examples of the objects that inspired them, some as simple but familiar as the white
00:33and blue slippers and red plastic stools found in many Taiwanese homes.
00:38Even if you're in an Asian community, there are things that overlap, so I think it's
00:43quite interesting that some things they've seen, some they've never seen, and some
00:47they have, and some they don't.
00:48So I think it's a very interesting process.
