00:00The government has responded more promptly to the impact of Typhoon Mika in the country.
00:06According to Department of Interior and Local Government, or DILG, Secretary John Victor Mulya,
00:12local government units were instructed to conduct preemptive evacuation in areas
00:18expected to be affected with the storm to avoid casualties. The DILG chief stated this action
00:24reflects lessons learned by LGUs during severe tropical storm Christine. The agency will also
00:31closely monitor weather forecasts for class suspensions. LGUs are authorized to cancel
00:38classes and work in case the office of the president could have made the announcement immediately.
00:54The DILG said that within 36 hours, 960 mm was dumped in Sorsogon.
