00:00Hi, Kristen. Thank you. Yeah, so right now. I am joined with Commander Karn Livingston
00:05He is the commanding officer of PCU John Bacelone commander
00:10It's such a pleasure to have you on the show this morning. Thanks for joining us
00:16So you just opened up the US equity markets from the USS Bacelone you rang the bell how are you feeling in this moment?
00:24I'm feeling excited. Yes
00:26It's an honor to have y'all on board. It's an honor to to be able to showcase the USS John Bacelone
00:32Talk to me though about the significance in bringing this ship here to the heart of New York City
00:37We're right next door is the Intrepid. We're here in Hell's Kitchen. What's the significance of this?
00:42So John Bacelone was born in New York. Yes born in Buffalo. He was raised not far from here in Raritan
00:48And it's just it's an honor to be able to showcase John Bacelone to to the people of New York to the American citizens
00:56Just the support of a maritime city like New York City
01:00Yeah, because technically, you know, he was a local as you said, you know and in New Jersey growing up
01:05It's just right right across the way and now to commemorate his and honor his legacy
01:11it's hugely significant and not only to the people of New Jersey, but far beyond and
01:17Now talk to me about what this means to you
01:20You had your children here as we officially commissioned the ship on Saturday. Tell me more about that
01:26I did I had my my wife Lindsay and my three boys
01:29Jacob Caleb and Tyler they came up from Maryland just to be here for the ceremony
01:34It was very special because they've been a part of it as much as my crew has getting the ship ready
01:39And can you tell me more about how the USS Bacelone the values that it has instilled how it really commemorates?
01:47Everything that the spirit of the Navy stands for. Yes. Well and
01:53additionally with that our call sign is
01:56Call sign selfless warriors, which describes John Bacelon's life and legacy and our ship's motto is honor loyalty and sacrifice
02:03Those are three words that we thought really
02:06Really captured the essence of who John Bacelon was
02:10And it describes his life his service his legacy and it's something we try to live up to every day here on board
02:15USS John Bacelon
02:17Tell me about that first moment when you heard of this bell ringing this remote bell ringing that was going to be taking place
02:25Upon this ship. What was your initial reaction to that?
02:29First reaction was it was an honor
02:30I was here for Fleet Week about 18 years ago and the
02:35Commanding officer the ship I was on was able to open the stock exchange and I remember thinking back then that was one of the coolest
02:40things
02:41So when we were planning our trip to be here, we heard there was an opportunity
02:45To do an event with the stock exchange to open the bell
02:48I was very excited to hear about that and I was incredibly honored to hear they wanted to do it on board the ship
02:53Yes
02:55But but walk me through the different stages that it took because I mean it's been in the works for quite some time
03:01It has been so first it was just an idea. Yeah, we want to do this. What day is it gonna be?
03:06Yes
03:06And then it was we had to bring the team out to make sure we can get the get the sound right get the layout
03:11Right, you know, how would everything look behind us?
03:14Bringing the bell on board and then finding you know crew members who are gonna be here to be excited to be part of it
03:20as well and let them participate
03:23And you know to host this remote bell aboard this ship on such a significant symbolic day
03:30The USS John Bass alone. What is the message that you hope viewers will take away from this remote bell ceremony?
03:39Celebrating Veterans Day. Well, it's
03:41It really is also a tribute to all veterans everywhere veterans here in New York City veterans nationwide worldwide
03:48but to be able to celebrate that with the newest ship of the Navy kind of brings it around full circle and the
03:54Significances yesterday was the Marine Corps birthday
03:56So we commissioned our ship on Saturday Marine Corps birthday on Sunday
04:01And then now celebrating Veterans Day on Monday and opening the stock change here
04:04It's just kind of like a bow on top of everything. Can you talk to me more about how the USS bass alone crew?
04:11commemorates the
04:13Everybody who is in uniform not only past but present and also the future in their daily routine
04:20So we have a we have a good connection with the association of the previous USS bass alone
04:25There's several of their former crew members who are around, you know, so we honor them and what we do
04:31For for current on board. It's just a it's a it's an absolute ownership of the mission
04:37You know, my career takes pride in everything they do they take pride in their work to take pride in and in running the ship
04:43and then for future
04:46My crew is also very involved in the community
04:48You know to include going to local schools and just talking to kids who might potentially serve in the naval service someday
04:54Well, that's the Marine Corps or the Navy and and helping them be excited about the possibility of serving in uniform
04:59Well, thank you so much manner is a pleasure speaking with you. And again, thank you so much for your service
05:04Thank you Trinity. Appreciate having you here
