00:00Last year, Jefferson Woody was taking part in a prison rodeo program in preparation for
00:08his release from jail.
00:10Coming out of prison and given the opportunity to come out and do this, it's a once in a
00:14lifetime you know.
00:15Now he's back behind bars after allegedly breaching parole last week and spending two
00:20days on the run.
00:22The information I have is that he did cut off his electronic monitoring device.
00:27A search eventually led police to this hotel in Alice Springs.
00:31On Sunday, the police attended a commercial premises and located that 20-year-old and
00:37arrested him for parole offences.
00:41Now while the police were in that commercial premises, we also located a 36-year-old female
00:47and she was also arrested.
00:50The woman allegedly found with Woody in the hotel room was Samantha Alumpy, a senior Naja
00:56employee who managed offenders parole.
00:58She's been charged with perverting the course of justice, was stood down and has since resigned
01:04from her role.
01:05The NT's infrastructure minister and former Alice Springs prison boss says this type of
01:10alleged relationship has happened before.
01:13There is a large training package put together to advise and instruct officers working within
01:19that system about the dangers of becoming too close to offenders.
01:24Naja's boss says the organisation's operations will be reviewed in response to the incident.
01:29We'll be reviewing our internal operations to determine if there's been any failings
01:34in this particular case or whether it was just an individual circumstance.
01:39Ms Alumpy is expected to face court in January, while Jefferson Woody has had his parole revoked
01:45and is likely returning to prison in Alice Springs.
