00:00The number of banks in the country is going to be reduced because the Modi government is merging banks, so in this case you should check that your account is not going to be shifted.
00:10So what are the details of which bank will be merged, what is going to happen, we will know in this video.
00:15The Modi government will now unite the 20 banks. The central government is joining the banks to improve the service of the banks and reduce the cost.
00:23And the government has started the fourth phase of the Regional Rural Bank, i.e. RRP.
00:28The government will reduce the number of 43 rural banks to 28, i.e. 21 banks will join the rest of the banks.
00:34If this happens, the accounts of the customers of the banks will be shifted to other banks.
00:40The Finance Ministry has said that 15 RRPs will be merged and in this scheme, one state, one RRP will be established, which will make the service better and affordable.
00:50In these states, RRPs will be merged, including Andhra Pradesh, where there are 4 RRPs, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, where there are 3-3 RRPs.
00:57Bihar, Gujarat, J&K, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Rajasthan, where 2-2 RRPs are included, will be merged.
01:05Apart from this, the assets and responsibilities of Telangana Andhra Pradesh Rural Development Bank APGVB will be divided between Telangana Rural Bank and APGVB and RRPs will be merged in Telangana.
01:17Now let's know what is the reason for this merger.
01:20In this case, the Finance Ministry says that RRPs work close to the communities in rural areas, so their efficiency will increase with the policy of one state, one RRP and there will be a reduction in the cost of operation.
01:34A road map has been prepared with the National Agriculture and Rural Development Bank, according to which the number of RRPs will be reduced to 43-28.
01:43For this, the Financial Service Department has also requested all RRPs' prior banks, whose last date is November 20.
01:51Now let's know what is the history of this merger.
01:54So the first step of the merger of RRPs was taken in 2004-05.
01:58After that, the number of RRPs was reduced from 196 to 43.
02:02And three phases of this process have already been completed and now this fourth phase is going on.
02:08What is the purpose of this?
02:09Under the RRP Regulation of 1976, these banks give loans and other services to small farmers, laborers and farmers of rural areas.
02:18In 2015, this Regulation was revised, which gave these banks permission to collect capital from other sources as well as the central and state governments.
02:27Now the RRPs have a 50% share of the central government, 35% of the banks and 15% of the state governments.
02:33According to the revised Regulation, the joint share of the central and state banks should not be less than 51%.
02:40Now what is the direction of bank unions in this?
02:42So some bank unions such as AIBOC and AIBEA had asked to merge with RRPs and their prior banks.
02:51They believe that this will increase the efficiency of the rural banking system.
02:55In this way, the RRPs of rural areas will be merged and the number of banks will be reduced.
03:04That's all in this video.
