00:00The man was spotted by a fisherman, who also coincidentally was a doctor, and happened
00:08to be returning home from a fishing trip last night around 6.30 when he found him and rescued
00:14him.
00:15Now the crew member was last seen before that on board the bulk carrier behind me, known
00:20as Double Delight, but he reportedly went overboard around 20 hours before he was rescued.
00:28That sparked a mammoth search and rescue effort yesterday.
00:32We saw about four boats out on the water and there were also multiple helicopters scanning
00:38from above.
00:39And while that official search and rescue effort wasn't successful, it was the fisherman
00:44who ended up coming to the rescue.
00:46He found the seafarer around six kilometres further south from where that search effort
00:52was underway during the day.
00:54The man was initially treated by paramedics.
00:57He was in a serious but stable condition to start off with, and as of today he's now
01:02in a stable condition.
01:04He was overseen by medical staff overnight, and that was under surveillance by the Australian
01:10Border Force, which is the agency that's now tasked with handling this incident.
01:15We're still yet to know the exact circumstances surrounding this event.
01:21We don't know why the man went overboard.
01:23We don't know what were the events that led up to that happening, but inquiries are underway
01:28Double Delight is now docked here at the port of Newcastle behind me, and it's scheduled
01:33to depart late tomorrow night.
