00:00What is the most annoying thing about your parents?
00:12Can I hear from you, Habie?
00:14When it comes to my mom, every now and then she'll be like, Habie, how's chores?
00:18And when it comes to my dad, academics.
00:21Because whenever I even score an 80, it's a problem.
00:25So every now and then, whenever I receive my papers, I first need to check them if there
00:30is anything that I can complain about before reaching home, because if not, it's going
00:34to be a big deal.
00:35Now can I hear from you, Mama?
00:37The most annoying thing about my mom, she always wants to make me cook whenever I want
00:40to go study and stuff like that.
00:42Now what about you, Ida?
00:44The most annoying thing about my mom is that she's always nagging me of cleaning my room.
00:48Why are you only talking about moms, moms, moms?
00:51What about dad?
00:52I want my dad always ready to make decisions for me, and I hate that.
00:57Okay, you want to be your own independent parent.
00:59Yeah, of course.
01:00Over to you, Mama.
01:02Do you feel more comfortable discussing certain topics with one parent over the other?
01:07Yes, mostly.
01:08Yeah, my mom.
01:09When it comes to general, like personal hygiene and stuff like that, I'd rather talk to my
01:13mom because she went through it and she understands it, like menstruation and stuff like that.
01:17She understands it more, so I'd rather talk to her about it.
01:20It's an absolute pleasure talking to you, girl.
01:22Thank you so much for your time.
01:24I appreciate it.
01:27What are the potential impacts on teenage girls' mental health when they have strained
01:33or distant relationships with their parents whom they idolize as role models?
01:37Oh, that has a lot of negative impact on their emotional and mental health.
01:44It's a time where they are trying to find out who they are, and as much as possible,
01:48they need that emotional connection.
01:50They need that guidance and that love and support from their parents.
01:54That connection is not actually there.
01:56It's going to leave them in a state of, let's say, fear, self-doubt, all this, so much negative
02:02emotions around them.
02:03So that's going to affect them as they're growing into adulthood.
02:06How can parents balance being role models whilst also respecting their teenage daughter's
02:11need for independence and autonomy in this crucial stage of development?
02:17This can be quite hard for some parents.
02:19Sometimes they may even want to decide what the child has to engage in.
02:22As much as you're being a role model to your child, it's important that you understand
02:26that your child is different from you.
02:28She has her own ambitions.
02:30It's important that you have that balance to give her the space to be able to make decisions
02:35and then navigate through life on her own as well, while being that constant support
02:40that she needs.
02:41Thank you so much for your expertise, ma'am.
02:44I truly appreciate it.
