00:00Hi there everybody, I'm Matt and today we're going to test the Sainsbury's Taste the Difference
00:07mince pies with all-butter pastry. It says they're filled with a blend of apples, currants,
00:14sultanas and candied citrus peel infused with brandy. So let's see how we get on.
00:30Okay, these look good. Star-shaped top, so a bit of filling there at the sides. Let's
00:53go through it with a knife. Okay, immediately you can see that fresh out of the box, going
01:02through it with a knife, it's crumbled. So it's generally not good if you're eating your
01:13mince pie, it might end up on your lap or on the plate or all over the table. But look at
01:20the filling, it looks pretty, not bad, it looks quite a strange consistency actually,
01:27it looks a bit, I don't know, let's have a taste, see how it goes. Again, you can see
01:38the pie's crumbled away. The taste of the filling's not bad, fruity, very sweet, not
01:52tasting a lot of the alcohol in it but I think the sweetness is why it looks the way it does.
02:07But it tastes okay. The pastry's nice, actually tastes really nice. A little bit of sugar
02:24on top but not too much. So all in all, the pastry's a bit crumbly, the filling's a bit
02:36sticky kind of consistency, not what I like really. I like to be able to see the individual
02:44bits of the fruit and as you can see, you can't really, it's just a black mess. But yeah,
02:54the taste okay. So I'm going to give these six and a half, I think, out of ten.
