00:00The government's program to vaccinate schools in different parts of the country is continuing.
00:04According to the Department of Health, more than a million children have been vaccinated for measles and measles rebellion.
00:12More than a million for the tetanus-diphtheria vaccine, while almost 300,000 girls have been vaccinated with the HPV vaccine.
00:21Here's the details of the national news from Patricia Lopez of IBC.
00:26Hanson's mom, Abigail, accompanied her 6-year-old daughter to be vaccinated for measles, rubella, diphtheria, and tetanus at Angelo Loyola Senior High School in Cavite.
00:42The Department of Education is part of the Vaccine School of the Department of Health.
00:48It's important for a child to be vaccinated because especially now, we're not sure, there's a lot of disease coming out, there's a possibility that we don't know what virus is coming,
00:57so it's more important for the child to be vaccinated so that they're safe outside the house.
01:02It's also important for the parent because it's less expensive if they don't get sick.
01:09For mommy Michelle, this vaccination drive is a big deal to explain to her child the importance of getting vaccinated.
01:19I'm educating her that she needs to get vaccinated because these days, it's really hard to get sick, so this was given by the government for your health.
01:29Then for the tetanus, for example, if they get injured, the effect on their body won't be that bad.
01:37For measles and rubella, it's really important for their health. Just in case, if there's an outbreak, they won't get infected.
01:44The DOH also explained the possible adverse effects of the vaccine.
01:49After vaccination, what we usually say is that the site is sick, it can get infected, it can also die.
01:58Our advice is to return to our health center to be monitored.
02:03We also give paracetamol, painkillers, and our health facilities are ready to provide services.
02:15According to the DOH, more than one million children have been vaccinated for measles and rubella,
02:23one million for the tetanus diphtheria vaccine, and almost P300,000 for girls who have been vaccinated with the HPV vaccine.
02:33By now, we are almost 28 percent. Hopefully, by the end of November, we can reach at least 50 percent.
02:41We will go around and the best effort of the Department of Health and the DepEd is to come up with a better percentage of those who will be vaccinated.
02:51The program of the school will continue until the end of November.
02:56If the agencies urge parents to vaccinate their children, it will serve as protection against vaccine-preventable diseases.
03:08From IBC 13, Patricia Lopez, for Balitang Pambansa.
