00:00Hey, was the results of a lot of the elections going on across the country.
00:08I'm sure you are aware of that, but maybe you weren't aware of some of these sports
00:13betting laws that are now going into effect and another potential one that we could be
00:18headed for.
00:19So we wanted to start off the show with that.
00:20We'll begin not with Missouri.
00:22We know Missouri is now legalized sports betting and on December 1st, it looks like it will
00:26launch.
00:27Now let's get to the latest in Colorado, where taxes have been a big subject of debate
00:32in Colorado as to whether or not the state is going to be able to levy higher taxes on
00:38their constituents, people who were betting on sports and the sports books.
00:41Well, the answer is a resounding yes.
00:44More than 75% of the votes in Colorado approved a new bill.
00:48Proposition JJ will allow the Rocky Mountain State to retain more than the previous limit
00:55of $29 million in Colorado sports tax revenue.
00:58So had that not passed, the government would need to return any excess tax revenue to sports
01:03books and their casinos.
01:05But with this new amendment, they can now charge more than the $29 million that was
01:10there.
01:11Very similar to what we see all across the country with sports betting on the rise in
01:16New York, in Pennsylvania, in Ohio, and the sports rate changing in terms of what you
01:20could charge for tax.
01:21We're now going to see the same thing in Colorado, which is good news for their state
01:26and really doesn't change anything unless the sports books decide to charge more juice,
01:31which hopefully they don't as a result of this.
01:33Now another story that seems to be percolating on the legalization of sports betting also
01:38came out late yesterday and today is the state of Minnesota getting ready to legalize sports
01:45betting.
01:46It certainly seems more possible than ever before.
01:48One of the remaining 10 or so states that don't have it, while the Running Aces Casino,
01:54one of the Indian tribe casinos, released a statement yesterday that they are in favor
01:59of legalizing sports betting in Minnesota.
02:02So naturally there's a lot of different things that could happen with this.
02:04It could run directly through the tribes, it could run throughout the state.
02:08But stay tuned to this one because there certainly seems to be a chance that in the next six
02:14months, maybe even before the Super Bowl, we could hear about yet another state legalizing
02:19sports betting, which is really good news for everyone across the country that they
02:22don't have to go offshore.
02:24All right, let's get to tonight's Thursday night football game.
02:27The Ravens tonight have already ruled out one of their tight ends.
02:30That's Isaiah Likely.
02:32He's out of the game tonight.
02:33Doubtful he was going in.
02:35The Bengals, by the way, are six and a half point underdogs.
02:38Tee Higgins not going to play in this one as well for Cincinnati, eight o'clock Eastern
02:42start.
02:43How about a little piece of news from the National Football League that was unexpected.
02:46Chuba Hubbard, a running back in the NFL, gets guaranteed money.
02:51Wow.
02:52Four years, $33.2 million.
02:54Congrats to Chuba Hubbard.
02:55Panthers obviously see him more part of the future.
02:58Hubbard, as you may recall, replaced Christian McCaffrey in the starting lineup when he was
03:02traded a couple of years ago.
03:04Also they're going to start Bryce Young this week at quarterback.
03:07That's not a surprise as well.
03:08The Dallas Cowboys certainly are going to have to make a decision on Dak Prescott over
03:12the next couple of days.
03:13They have yet to place him on injured reserve, but it looks like he's going to be out potentially
03:17for the rest of the season with a hamstring pulled off his bone.
03:20Yikes.
03:21That does not sound good.
03:22Dak Prescott not going to play anytime soon.
03:24Cooper Rush looks like he's going to start indefinitely for the Cowboys.
03:28And also the Saints' Chris Olave, ahead of their game this week, is going to see some
03:32specialists about his concussions.
03:33He suffered concussions in two of the last three weeks.
03:37All right.
03:38Results in college football.
03:39Last night, Ohio covers 19 and a half point spread.
03:41It was not a close game.
03:42They beat Kent State 41-0.
03:45Northern Illinois beats Western Michigan 42-28.
03:48Now in tonight's action, Appalachian State, their one and a half point favorites against
03:52Coastal Carolina.
03:53Florida Atlantic are on the road, underdogs at East Carolina.
03:58And how about this?
03:59SMU's had a great college football season.
04:01Right on the outside looking in of the college football playoff, they get a big commitment.
04:05Matt Leinart's son, Cole Leinart, is going to be headed to play for the Mustangs coming
04:10up next season.
04:11In the NBA last night, in the Western Conference, not many people thought the Golden State Warriors
04:17would be the hottest team to start the season, but folks, they have been it.
04:20The Warriors beat the Celtics last night, 118-112.
04:24They were seven point underdogs on the road in Boston.
04:28Steph Curry had 27 points, nine rebounds, or nine assists, seven rebounds.
04:32Boston now seven and two.
04:34Golden State with a better record than them at seven and one.
04:37Steve Kerr, after the game, discussed how it has been the little minutes from the role
04:42players that has been big, and also Jason Tatum certainly disappointed.
04:47For the first time all season, it looked like the Celtics were handled.
04:52In theory, we should be able to, if we're playing a bunch of guys 15 to 22 minutes,
04:59they should be able to go all out during those minutes, and I think we're getting that.
05:04Tonight was probably the first game.
05:05We had three guys over 30 minutes, so the game settled into a more traditional NBA game
05:12down the stretch.
05:13We had Wiggs, Draymond, and Steph out there all playing big minutes, but I thought Gary
05:19and Buddy just tag teaming offense, defense, and then Loon, he's made so many big plays
05:24for us over the years.
05:25I thought his minutes were just massive down the stretch.
05:30I think they just did a good job of being more physical, and obviously they were blitzing
05:36all of the ball screens I came off, and we weren't, or I speak for myself, a little rushed
05:42in the first half, and I think in the second half just accepted it and played with more
05:47patience and made the right read more often than not.
05:51Boston falls to 7-2 on the season.
05:53You know who would take that record?
05:54It's the Philadelphia 76ers, folks.
05:56They're 1-6 to start the season.
05:59They lost to the Clippers last night, 1-10 to 98.
06:01Joellen Bede's still out for a couple of more games.
06:04How about the best team in the NBA this season?
06:06It's the Cleveland Cavaliers.
06:07They're now 9-0.
06:08They beat the Pelicans 1-31 to 1-22, one of the more high-scoring games we saw this week.
06:14Also, LeBron James, ageless wonder.
06:16How about last night?
06:1739 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, but the Grizzlies did beat the Lakers 1-31 to 1-14.
06:23AD, Anthony Davis did not play in this game.
06:26All right, first week of college basketball coming close to a close.
06:29UConn last night beat Sacred Heart 92-56.
06:32Alex Caravan, 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists.
06:37Gotta say, unusual to see the new coach on the sidelines for the Arkansas Razorbacks.
06:43John Calipari wins his first game as the head coach at Arkansas.
06:48Final score, 76-60.
06:51They actually beat a pretty good team, Lipscomb University, known for throwing up a lot of threes
06:55and running all over the place.
06:57Calipari, after the game, talked about overcoming that challenge.
07:01That is a very, very hard game to play out of the gate, because you gotta be disciplined
07:06and you better be in shape, because they're gonna run you for 25 seconds, and then we
07:10play fast and pressure.
07:13So we had guys exhausted with three minutes into the game.
07:19I come back to, defensively, we did some good things, but we had to create a gap by creating
07:26turnovers.
07:27Well, against good teams, you're not gonna just go create a turnover.
07:30You can't.
07:31How about this thought?
07:33Make a three.
07:36How about that thought?
07:37You make 7 or 8 today, you get 3 or 4 more today, I want you to think of the score.
07:46And we had 19 threes.
07:48I'm glad we didn't shoot more, because we'd have missed more.
07:51But we are, the good news is, we threw the ball inside today and we did some good stuff.
07:57So we know we can do it.
08:00Weird seeing the Razorbacks logo behind Calipari, I gotta be honest.
08:03Creighton last night beat Texas Rio Grande, that's not the story.
08:07The story is Ryan Kalkbrenner had 49 points on 20 for 22 shooting.
08:13Creighton beats UT Rio Grande, 99-86.
08:17I'm guessing they did not cover that spread.
08:19Auburn also beat Vermont, 94-43, they did cover that spread.
08:23All right, in baseball news, the general manager meeting's wrapping up in San Antonio this
08:27week.
08:28We'll get the news out of there.
08:29We'll give them to you.
08:30An extension for Mike Schilt, he'll be the manager of the Padres through 2027.
08:35Mookie Betts likely to play second base or shortstop.
08:39Brandon Gomes, their general manager, told the media yesterday.
08:43And Wilson Contreras is going from catcher to first base.
