The US Ambassador to Australia says she believes the American people will unite going forward

00:15So obviously I want to ask about the election. What do you make of the result?

00:19Well, I think it was a really clear win for President Trump. And so

00:24That's the direction that that people have chosen

00:27So I think you know, the Australia Alliance is so strong and so powerful that all the work that goes on here will continue

00:34There'll obviously be some

00:36Changes, but I think that people should should know that the United States is here

00:42Australia and the US are such strong allies and partners and friends that

00:47Nothing, not that much I don't think would change around the year for Australia

00:52But what about back home, are you hoping for some unity going forward? I hope so

00:57I hope so. He said that yesterday. And so I think you know as an American

01:02I mean, I think people will come together out of the shared sense of patriotism and try to build a future together

01:20But I mean you're appointed by the president as his personal representative for the length of his term

01:25But I would love to come back to Australia as much as I possibly can

01:30I've had just a wonderful wonderful time and and so much progress has been made in this relationship from August to

01:37critical minerals and

01:39You know across the border economic ties are so strong working together in the Pacific

01:44So there's been a lot of important sort of policy work

01:47And then I've had the chance to get out and meet people all across this country and I feel so lucky

01:52What will you miss the most about Australia? The Australians!
