00:09But in recent years, researchers say they might just have the answer as to why so many
00:12people believe they see something strange in the woods.

00:15It's just a much more common creature.
00:17Experts say that Bigfoot sightings are much more likely black bears that are walking around
00:21on their hind legs.
00:23It's a rare occurrence to capture on camera, but when the bears are upright and moving,
00:26they lumber around in much the same way you might expect Bigfoot to.
00:30In fact, two papers looking at Bigfoot sightings have outlined how they are much more common
00:34in areas that also have high black bear populations.
00:36And when the human populations grew in those same areas, sightings went up as well.
00:40However, in the South, in states like Texas and Florida, black bears don't live there.
00:44Yet there are still sightings.
00:46So is this evidence of a different Southern Bigfoot possibility?
00:49Data scientist Flo Foxon says don't get your hopes up, explaining, quote,

00:56North America, it is also explained by misidentification of other animals, including humans, among
