00:00There is this waging of the legal status against these people, there is this, as I was saying,
00:08weaponizing of migration, and I think we have to clarify that because how do you take in
00:13the Ukrainian people and how you have to push out the Palestinian people you have into your
00:19country, okay, that were there because of the exchange programs, the student programs,
00:24okay, the solidarity programs, so that is a contradiction we have to analyze and to
00:29break down because it's not only the Mexican people, the migration, you know, you have
00:34to take in also the U.S. has been doing this with Cuba also.
00:38They have been opening for migration and closing the door for migration from Cuba, and they
00:43have been trying to prompt a legal migration to say and to put that wage on the shoulders
00:48of the Cuban revolution, saying that the Cuban revolution pushes people away, which is not
00:53true, okay, it's also happening that they are doing this in a war fashion, in a war
00:59way to bring this asphyxiation on people and trying to be the goods and the saviors when
01:06they are just opening and closing doors at their convenience.
01:11Thank you, Professora Gladys.
01:13I mean, that was a really important lesson on the double standards that exist in the
01:19status quo on immigration policy in the United States.
01:22I think one way to visualize it, here you have the Statue of Liberty, and when the Statue
01:28of Liberty sees the Ukrainians, the Statue of Liberty goes like this.
01:32When the Statue of Liberty sees the Palestinians, the Statue of Liberty goes like this.
01:37When it's the Cubans, they go like this.
01:40When it's the Lebanese, they go like this.
01:42Why does this double standard exist?
01:44Professor Norm Chomsky, who so many of us owe a lot to in terms of what we've learned
01:49about U.S. foreign policy and having a critical view, Norm Chomsky talks about who are the
01:55worthy victims of U.S. imperialism and who are the unworthy victims.
02:01Of course, they highlight the Ukrainians because they can then point to big, bad Russia and
02:07Putin and put it all on them, even though NATO and the U.S. have invested hundreds and
02:13billions of dollars in this aggressive encroachment campaign on the Russians every time a Cuban
02:21reaches or tries to reach the shores of Florida.
02:25CNN is right there in Fox News because the unofficial religion of the United States is
02:31anti-communism, so it's in their ideological interest to highlight the Nicaraguans or the
02:37Venezuelans, 8 million Venezuelans who have been forced to leave their homeland, one of
02:42the richest countries in the entire world, a country of 30 million people, infinite gas,
02:48oil, gold, natural resources.
02:54But because of the U.S. hybrid war, they have starved Venezuela.
02:59They have done everything to put an imperial monkey wrench in the everyday functioning
03:03of the Venezuelan economy.
03:06That's why we have this double standard.
03:08It's part of capitalist ideology, Western imperial ideology.
03:13They don't take any responsibility for their wars on Cuba.
03:17As the YouTube series from the belly of the beast is called, everyone should check out
03:22the war on Cuba.
03:24Everyone should check out also The Revolution Will Not Be Televised and other documentaries
03:29which tell the truth about Venezuela, about Nicaragua, about Bolivia, about Zimbabwe,
03:35about Vietnam.
03:36Any country in the world that dares to have a modicum of self-determination before U.S.
03:43imperial interest is constantly punished, sanctioned, and blockaded by the most powerful
03:49government and military in the history of the world, which is the U.S. military.
03:54That is the decontextualization that both Harris and Trump represent.
