Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang witnessed the exchange of documents between Malaysia and China related to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Cooperation Plan in Shanghai on Tuesday (Nov 5).

00:16The plan seeks high-quality development and collaboration between the two nations through
00:21policy coordination, improved infrastructure connectivity, and enhanced trade and investment
00:27cooperation.
00:28It also seeks to deepen ties in other sectors such as education, science and technology,
00:35media, culture, tourism, and sports.
00:38The leaders also saw the exchange of a memorandum of understanding between Burma and China Media
00:43Group, which looked to enhance strategic partnership and media collaboration between the two countries.
00:50The two leaders also held a bilateral meeting, following up on matters since their last meeting
00:54in Putrajaya in June.
00:57Anwar said Malaysia is thankful that China has been in the forefront in supporting Malaysia's
01:01participation in BRICS.
01:03He said their cooperation has been going well as both nations have expanded cooperation
01:08to all areas.
01:09He said Li's visit to Malaysia had paved the way for accelerated discussions on major
01:14investments and critical bilateral issues.
01:17Anwar is in China for an official four-day visit, including attending the 7th China International
01:24Import Expo Opening Ceremony.
01:27He will proceed to Beijing, where he is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping.
