00:07Prime Minister Fadhila Yusof's remarks as a response to the ongoing discussions between Puja Jaya and Sarawak

00:15on the exploration of oil and gas off the country's coast.

00:20Under the 1974 Petroleum Development Act, Petronas was given full and exclusive ownership

00:27of all oil and gas resources on and off the country's coast.

00:32However, Fadhila stated that Sarawak's ownership of oil and gas off the coast

00:37was based on the 1958 Petroleum Development Act

00:42and added that the state claimed ownership of all resources in the country.

00:49As far as Sarawak is concerned, it's about 100 miles from the border.

00:56The State Council of Sarawak has passed the 2016 Gas Distribution Ordinance

01:01that allows Petros, the state's oil company, to take over Petronas' role as a state gas aggregator.

01:08As far as onshore, it will be given to the state of Sarawak. Offshore will still be Petronas.

01:14But for the new exploration, then both parties will discuss.
