00:11Here in Barangay Landayan, in San Pedro, the floods have been going on for two weeks already.

00:15The water is black and smelly.

00:18The garbage and dirt are also mixed in.

00:22Luz' house has a roof inside so that her family won't get soaked in the floods.

00:28Their beds are also soaked in water.

00:31Our house is already smelly.

00:35Sometimes, we even throw up. It's already smelly.

00:38They've been here for a long time and they don't plan to leave.

00:42It's hard to get a house now. It's very expensive.

00:45We can't afford to buy a house because I'm just a plumber.

00:51In this part of Barangay Landayan, this raft is being used

00:56because until now, the situation is still the same.

00:59The floods are still severe. The water is still reaching Baywang.

01:04The residents are not leaving because they are always saying,

01:07they are used to it.

01:09Joanne's family, even though they are used to it, is still having a hard time in this situation.

01:14The children here also get sick because of the smell.

01:18When it rains, they get sick.

01:20They also have a hard time getting a job.

01:23It's hard to get a job.

01:25They get wet and when they get there, they still get soaked in the floods.

01:29Other residents also get sick.

01:31It's been five days.

01:34Even though the residents are using a raft,

01:37there are still people who need to get soaked in the floods.

01:40According to the Barangay, there are more than 1,200 cases of Alipunga here in Landayan.

01:45They are getting soaked. They are bringing water. They are delivering it.

01:48Maybe it's because of the water. The water is black.

01:52Inside our house, there is no water.

01:54It's just that our feet are getting soaked in the water.

01:59There are more than 20 cases of dengue in the barangay.

02:02We are next to Lawa.

02:04That's why until now, we are still experiencing water in our houses next to Lawa.

02:12What's happening?

02:13It's because our area is low.

02:16That's why the water is stopping.

02:18The water reached us in December.

02:20According to San Pedro LGU, Laguna Lake is too silted

02:24so that it cannot receive water.

02:27There are too many puddles under Lawa.

02:30That's why when it floods, it doesn't sink right away.

02:33Is there a solution to the long-standing problem?

02:36Our waterways are continuously declogging, desilting,

02:44and we are placing slow protection and retaining walls, flood control projects

02:51so that the rainwater from the upper areas can go directly to Laguna.

02:59San Pedro LGU is also talking to the LGU of Binan and Maging in Muntinlupa

03:04to help solve the slow flooding, especially in lakes and barangays.
