00:00But he was completely a directorial school by fire.
00:06Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at movie casts who could collectively agree
00:10that one particular co-star was the worst.
00:13I would have called my husband, I would say, listen, you gotta take care of Jared Leto.
00:17You know, just be between me and you.
00:20Number 10, Wesley Snipes, Blade Trinity.
00:24This threequel's dip in quality mirrors its production issues with star Wesley Snipes
00:28at the center.
00:29Jason Oswalt called Snipes crazy in a hilarious way, claiming he spent most days smoking weed
00:34in his trailer, refused to break character, and strangled director David Goyer.
00:38Wall of pot stench would just be like, whoa, and kind of push you to the side, and then
00:45he would only answer to the name Blade.
00:48Where Oswalt found humor in Snipes' alleged behavior, Jessica Biel thought the Blade actor
00:52was a little unnerving.
00:53Snipes also reportedly referred to Ryan Reynolds as a cracker.
00:56According to Oswalt, the filmmakers intentionally gave Reynolds the worst jokes and puns so
01:01they could cut to Wesley's face not doing anything, because that's all they could get
01:04from him.
01:05All the vampires go bye-bye.
01:06So, can we just go right ahead and sign you up for one of our secret Night Stalker Dakota
01:13rinks?
01:16Everyone was seemingly unified in making fun of Snipes, who reconciled with Reynolds twenty
01:19years later in Deadpool and Wolverine.
01:32Number 9 – Christian Bale – American Psycho
01:35Christian Bale is another actor known for going method.
01:37While this has resulted in some great performances, you can imagine how stressful this might be
01:41for Bale's co-stars, especially when playing a serial killer like Patrick Bateman.
01:56While Bale didn't go too far, Chloe Sevigny found it difficult to socialize with him,
02:00Working with Christian was pretty hard because I didn't know this whole method thing.
02:13Years later, when they re-teamed on Ford vs Ferrari, Josh Lucas told Bale all of the other
02:17actors thought that he was the worst actor they'd ever seen during the production of
02:20American Psycho.
02:22Lucas changed his tune after seeing Bale's performance in the finished film.
02:25Even so, Bale was in the dark about how his co-stars felt.
02:36Number 8 – Richard Pryor – Blue Collar
02:39There's no denying that Richard Pryor was a one-of-a-kind talent.
02:42With a history of heavy substance use though, he wasn't always the easiest person to work
02:46with.
02:47This was apparent on the set of Blue Collar.
02:51While there were tensions across the ensemble, Pryor was arguably the main source of conflict.
02:56Pryor reportedly didn't get along with Yafit Koto or Harvey Keitel, constantly arguing
03:00with them.
03:01Matters grew especially aggressive between Pryor and Keitel, who threw an ashtray's
03:05contents at the camera in response to his co-stars' prolonged ad-libs.
03:19In retaliation, Pryor had his bodyguard beat Keitel.
03:22Pryor also allegedly attacked Koto with a chair.
03:25The animosity extended to director Paul Schrader, who accused Pryor of pulling a gun on him.
03:36Number 7 – Shia LaBeouf – Fury
03:39The real battle in this World War II film was between Shia LaBeouf and his fellow actors.
03:44No stranger to erratic behavior, LaBeouf got into character by having a tooth removed and
03:48giving himself scars.
03:56LaBeouf also stopped bathing, much to the annoyance of Logan Lerman, Jason Isaacs, and
04:01Brad Pitt.
04:02The young actor was reportedly sent to a bed and breakfast to distance himself from the
04:05rest of the cast.
04:06There were also fistfights during production, although LaBeouf says this was part of a bonding
04:10experience suggested by director David Ayer.
04:22LaBeouf claims tensions de-escalated as the shoot wrapped, and his co-stars all love each
04:26other.
04:27According to a source, though, several people on set spoke out against LaBeouf, including
04:30Pitt and Ayer.
04:41Number 6 – Steven Seagal – Out For Justice
04:44Few actors have a worse reputation than Steven Seagal.
04:47It's safe to say he didn't make many friends during the production of this action-thriller.
04:55Seagal supposedly had co-star William Forsythe's screen time reduced, fearing he was better
05:00than him.
05:01Despite this, Forsythe said,
05:20No cast member grew to hate Seagal more than an up-and-coming John Leguizamo, who later
05:24worked with him again in Executive Decision, where a physical altercation broke out.
05:28Leguizamo has since repeatedly made fun of Seagal, even basing his character from the
05:32menu on him.
05:44Number 5 – Jared Leto – Suicide Squad
05:47Jared Leto's turn as the Joker received more attention for his off-screen behavior.
05:51Leto allegedly sent the cast an assortment of disturbing gifts, including used condoms,
05:56sex toys, and a dead pig.
06:02Some cast members tried putting a smile on Leto's methods.
06:04Margot Robbie was initially disgusted by the live rat Leto gifted her, although she wound
06:08up keeping it as a pet.
06:09Others struggled to see the joke.
06:11Viola Davis called Leto's gifts horrific, saying that he did some bad things.
06:23Adewale Akinnoye-Agbaje found Leto's actions downright selfish, not wanting his dirty leftovers.
06:41In response to online backlash, Leto said,
06:43If I do something risky and you don't like it, basically, you can kiss my ass.
06:47Number 4 – Val Kilmer – The Island of Dr. Moreau
06:59This production nightmare faced numerous obstacles, including an unpredictable Marlon Brando.
07:09Val Kilmer was perhaps the most antagonistic figure, however.
07:12Brought on board as a substitute for Bruce Willis, Kilmer refused to work the required
07:16number of days, resulting in him being designated to a supporting role.
07:19When Kilmer showed up on set reportedly two days late, he brought a hostile attitude with
07:24him.
07:25Supposedly, this was because Kilmer's marriage to Joanne Wally was ending.
07:37In any case, Kilmer added toxicity to an already uneasy environment, giving actor Rob Moreau
07:42another reason to quit.
07:44Although director Richard Stanley was replaced with John Frankenheimer, this did little to
07:47calm Kilmer.
07:48In addition to allegedly feuding with Brando, Kilmer was accused of generally being a prep
07:52school jerk.
08:03Number 3 – Marlon Brando – Mutiny on the Bounty
08:06Dr. Moreau was far from the first production that Brando made difficult.
08:10Mutiny on the Bounty was not only one of the most expensive films at the time, but also
08:14one of the biggest flops.
08:15Much of the blame went to Brando, who was accused of being controlling, tardy, and uncooperative.
08:28Aside from clashing with director Louis Milestone, Brando didn't get along with his co-stars.
08:32Trevor Howard called Brando unprofessional and completely ridiculous, while Richard Harris
08:36described him as a large, dreadful nightmare.
08:49Shooting one scene, Harris walked off the set and shouted to Brando,
08:52When you're ready to work, call me.
08:54Milestone would describe the production as the mutiny of Marlon Brando.
09:07Following its failure, Hollywood and Brando's career took significant turns.
09:11Number 2 – Sean Andrews – Dazed and Confused
09:14This hangout comedy launched several careers, most notably Matthew McConaughey's.
09:22In a way, McConaughey has Sean Andrews to thank.
09:24Initially, Andrews' Kevin Pickford was going to have a more prominent part.
09:28Director Richard Linklater could tell that the other actors weren't responding to Andrews,
09:32however.
09:33Linklater even broke up a fight between Andrews and Jason London.
09:35As such, Linklater reduced Andrews' role and gave McConaughey more screen time.
09:39The only cast member Andrews gelled with was Mila Jovovich, who also had her role downsized.
09:55Jovovich and Andrews got hitched behind the scenes, although the marriage was annulled
09:58after two months.
10:07The cast otherwise found Andrews cocky, as he built himself up as the next Marlon Brando.
10:12Well, Andrews and Brando have one thing in common.
10:31Number 1 – Lawrence Tierney – Reservoir Dogs
10:35Given this veteran character actor's background playing tough guys, Quentin Tarantino cast
10:39him as crime boss Joe Cabot in his debut film.
10:52It soon occurred to Tarantino that Tierney was, in his words, a complete lunatic.
10:57Tarantino thus decided to shoot Tierney's scenes first.
11:00During production, Tierney was arrested for drunkenly shooting his nephew at home, although
11:04he was released to complete filming.
11:06Tarantino told The Guardian,
11:07By the end of the week, everybody on set hated Tierney.
11:10It wasn't just me.
11:20This hectic week culminated in a fight between the actor and director, driving Tarantino
11:24to fire Tierney.
11:25In response, the whole set applauded Tarantino.
11:33While Tarantino ultimately got the scenes he needed from Tierney, they never collaborated
11:37again.
11:45Can you think of any actors who were infamously difficult to work with?
