00:00It's called a changeover. The movie goes on.
00:03Welcome to MissMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most shocking and or
00:07earth-shattering twists in films. Spoilers ahead for the following movies.
00:12In 1966, Andy Dufresne escaped from Shawshank Prison.
00:19Number 10. Moss is killed off-screen. No Country for Old Men.
00:24Call the police.
00:25A tense and taut thriller, No Country for Old Men follows Llewellyn Moss as he steals drug
00:29money and comes to regret it. An assassin and others chase him down while Sheriff Bell tries
00:34to restore order. The lawman is too late, arriving at Moss' motel room only to find Moss' dead body.
00:49A traditional movie would at least give you a chance to see the final moments of such a major
00:53character. This particular film doesn't give you the satisfaction, opting instead to consider what
00:58happens when the villains get away with it. It's an unexpected and chilling way to explore
01:02the nature of violence.
01:12Number 9. Luke's exit. The Place Beyond the Pines.
01:16In this crime drama, Luke Glanton decides to steal to provide for his family.
01:28He also comes up against police in a hot pursuit. Most people would expect a high-profile star like
01:33Ryan Gosling to stick around, but this movie alters your expectations.
01:39Glanton dies after Bradley Cooper's cop chases and finishes him.
01:50From that point on, Cooper becomes the star of the film as you witness the event's effect on
01:54the new character. It's an interesting way of shifting the story and exploring the plot
01:58from an entirely different angle. Filmmaker Derek Cianfrance keeps you guessing after
02:03this stunning moment, making you feel like nobody is safe anymore.
02:08Number 8. Tyler Durden. Fight Club.
02:22After they turn their fighting hobby into a deadly organization, the film's narrator and
02:27his partner Tyler Durden prepare to execute Project Mayhem. The only problem is that the
02:32main character realizes some surprising news. In a wild twist, he discovers that Durden is his
02:51alter ego. The audience then needs a full reset to comprehend how this changes the story. You could
02:59even say that the entire movie demands a rewatch, with the whole plot taking on a new meaning.
03:03Edward Norton's character comes to reluctantly embrace his future while trying to rid himself
03:08of his other personality. Whether or not the ending answers every question, it does leave
03:21viewers on an interesting note. Number 7. The Wrong Dimension.
03:26Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse. After exploring multiple universes,
03:32Miles Morales tempts fate and tries to travel back to his own dimension.
03:36He then realizes that he's travelled to a different Earth instead.
03:39Not only is it a different place, this version of home brings back Morales' evil uncle and
03:59features the hero's villainous doppelganger. This elaborate twist puts the main character
04:22in a sticky situation, especially as he's all tied up. Some movies have cliffhangers,
04:26but this one makes you wonder if anything can go back to normal for Miles and leaves you eager
04:31for the sequel. Number 6. Bond Is Doomed. No Time To Die.
04:38In this 007 adventure, James Bond must defeat the criminal mastermind Saffron in the finale.
04:43Nothing we haven't seen before with Bond. Unfortunately, the villain has a lethal ace
04:48up his sleeve. Not long before his death, Saffron dooms Bond from ever reuniting with his family
05:05by infecting him with nanobots that will kill his lover and their child.
05:20The hero has to die on the island rather than taking a chance that could harm his loved ones.
05:25It might be the most diabolical twist in the series, setting up an unprecedented end
05:30for the MI6 operative. Viewers wouldn't be wrong to ponder the future of the franchise
05:47after this kind of moment. Number 5. The Escape. The Shawshank Redemption.
05:59Following many years in prison, Andy Dufresne appears to be at a breaking point. Viewers expect
06:09the worst, but Shawshank Redemption has one incredible twist up its sleeve. The prisoner
06:25actually escapes the prison, incriminates the corrupt prison staff, and makes his way to Mexico.
06:30As it turns out, Dufresne has been carrying out this complex plan in secret for a long time. It's
06:35a fantastic way to subvert expectations, giving audiences the cathartic moment they've been hoping
06:40for. The events of this harrowing drama lead to a more upbeat plot point
06:55that sets up an even more joyful ending. Number 4. The Military Shows Up. The Mist.
07:25As David Drayton and a small band of survivors find themselves at a crossroads,
07:30they consider making a merciful choice. The hero uses his remaining bullets on the other
07:48members of his group in order to save them from the deadly creatures that have arrived. He then
07:52waits for his own death. It's already a sad ending, but then things get a whole lot worse.
08:01The main character then sees the military show up and comes to understand that he just killed
08:06the others, including his own son, for nothing. Among the cruelest endings of its kind,
08:11The Mist brings a twist that isn't afraid to leave you speechless.
08:15Number 3. Changing History in Glorious Bastards. History is written in stone,
08:43but not where Quentin Tarantino is concerned. His World War II saga follows a commando squad
08:50and a theater owner that try to separately take down Nazi leaders.
09:05Some viewers might expect the plans to fail, but that's when Tarantino decides to have fun.
09:13He lets the theater burn and the bombs go off. Not only that, he shows close-ups of
09:18Hitler's graphic end. We then consider the possible implications for this alternative
09:22timeline. Keeping audience members engaged, the filmmaker has our attention as he details
09:27his surprising version of how the war turns out. Number 2. Darth Vader's Reveal. Star Wars Episode
09:375, The Empire Strikes Back. Near the end of this sequel, young hero Luke Skywalker
09:48confronts the evil Darth Vader. Their fight ends with the villain telling his adversary
10:01some shocking information, that Luke is in fact his son. It's maybe the most famous sci-fi twist
10:21ever, making the original Star Wars trilogy all the more dramatic.
10:32Coming right after Luke has lost his hand, Vader's revelation, and his attempts to get Luke to join
10:37him on the dark side create a climax that has rarely been equaled. This all sets up one of the
10:42best cliffhangers ever as Skywalker contemplates his next move. Before we unveil our top pick,
10:48here are a few honorable mentions. Shot in the face. Burn after reading.
10:53Chad gets a rude awakening when he tries to hide in a closet.
11:08Leonard killed his wife. Memento. Shelby discovers that his short-term memory
11:12has sent him down the wrong path. The basement dweller. Parasite. All changes
11:29when the parasitic family realizes someone's lurking under the house.
11:49A cult controls everything. Hereditary. The horrible tragedies have all been
11:53leading to a Coven's creepy scheme. The box. Seven. Killer John Doe prepares an awful package
12:10to finish his plan. Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel

12:42classic keeps you guessing at nearly every turn. Secretary Marion Crane steals money and runs away,
12:59eventually stopping at a creepy motel. As she appears to be the film's protagonist,
13:03you'd expect her to be around for the whole movie. But the filmmaker has other plans. Her
13:07shower ends up being deadly, changing the course of this disturbing plot and creating a highlight
13:12in cinema history. It also sets up another bold twist later in the story, with Crane's death,
13:22Norman Bates' strange life, takes centre stage and dominates the film. All these years later,
13:28Psycho still has the power to shock audiences with its timeless scares.
