We visited Bristol Christmas Market on opening day (November 1) to learn about this year’s stallholders.

Located on Broadmead, the German-themed market is home to over 35 unique stalls ranging from homemade crafts to clothes and unique lamps and delicious foods.

We talked with some of traders to learn about their business and the products they offer.

Some of the traders have traded for years at the Bristol Christmas Market and have a loyal customer base whilst others are trading at the market for the first time.

00:00Bristol Christmas Market has officially opened its doors today.
00:04Let's find out what the market has to offer this year.
00:07My work is based on the idea of making really slick,
00:11really kind of like simple, sort of high design
00:14products that are made as responsibly and consciously as possible.
00:17So I have a range of mini geovessels, which I'll just show here,
00:22which are great little Christmas presents. You get the plant, the real plant
00:25included in a gift box and there's the bigger version here
00:30Then I've got a range of lamps over here which is like all customisable.
00:35So you choose your base, you choose your cable
00:38and then you come back and collect it in a week's time or I post it to you for free.
00:42We do all crystal ornaments ranging from little teddy bears, swans,
00:46candle holders, anything really that's crystal we got it on this stand for you.
00:51This is my 14th year here, been in the same position every year.
00:55All my customers are regular customers come back every year
00:58because we keep the price the same price, £5 every year.
01:01Just trading here for the second year now, selling my
01:05earmuffs and furs and gloves and hats, scarves obviously.
01:12And what products would you recommend for those who are shopping for the
01:16Christmas gifts this year at the market?
01:18Mainly the furs with the fur ponchos go really well,
01:22they're very good gifts and I've got the earmuffs which is very good and
01:26I don't want for the kids as well.
01:28I've been market trading or trading in some way for nearly 20 years.
01:34We have mostly jewellery, predominantly silver jewellery but there is some brass as well
01:39and we also have tin ornamentation, dream catchers,
01:43some signs and yeah.
01:47The guy who owns the company was actually on Dragon's Den a few years ago
01:51and he didn't actually get anywhere but he's now got distillery in Manchester,
01:54he's got a shop in Birmingham and there's actually a pop-up shop
01:57we now have for the Christmas period in Cabot Circus and we're here.
02:02It is a liqueur, it's very tasty, very sweet, very easy to drink, very popular.
02:10Yeah it's all handmade, olive wood.
02:13We have so many products, most of it like kitchen stuff,
02:17things like ladle, spoon, goblets.
02:22Also we have like games, like chess games, four games.
02:27Yeah we have almost 100 different products.
02:31I make a big range of different stuff.
02:35I'm a silversmith but I work with metals and porcelain, wood.
02:42My brother and I make mead so this is a lovely ancient drink
02:46but we're making it a contemporary alternative to wine and cider
02:51so we do a range of sparkling mead and honey beer
02:55and then yeah and this is a lovely traditional wine style mead.
02:59But yeah, setting up today, not quite finished as you can see
