00:00The Samsung Galaxy Ring is finally here after much anticipation.
00:08It was actually first announced earlier this year, but now I can actually try it on and
00:13tell you what it's all about.
00:14So for the Galaxy Ring, you would get the same Galaxy health features that you would
00:18for Galaxy Watch, but in a much smaller and more convenient form factor coming from someone
00:23who has worn the Oya Ring right here for over two years now.
00:27So how does the Galaxy Ring compare to, say, the Oura Ring or other smart rings?
00:31Foundationally, a lot is similar.
00:33A size range from 5 to 13, so 9 total, and multiple metal finishes.
00:38Teeny tiny health sensors are inside tracking heart rate, blood oxygen, and skin temperature.
00:43This informs activity tracking, sleep tracking and coaching, cycle tracking, and general
00:48in-moment wellness insights like high or low heart rate alerts.
00:51Samsung is taking things a step further with the Galaxy AI treatment.
00:56So now this data collected can inform further insights like the energy score, that's sort
01:00of like a readiness score, and wellness tips that are individualized insights on everything
01:05from activity to nutrition.
01:07Sleep tracking and sleep coaching is something that Samsung has prioritized for a while now,
01:11but it goes to the next level with the Enhanced Sleep AI algorithm that takes in more factors
01:16when determining your sleep score.
01:18Getting your sleep score or learning more about your sleep quality is only effective
01:22if you're wearing a device to track your sleep every night or at least most nights, which
01:26is why a form factor like a ring makes a lot of sense, maybe more so to some people
01:30than a Galaxy Watch or another smartwatch.
01:33Me personally, I sleep with my jewelry every night, so this would be no sweat.
01:37If we're talking about convenience though, we have to talk about this charging case.
01:41It's multifunctional, letting you wirelessly charge the ring, but also pack it up and take
01:47it with you.
01:48That said, the ring does last up to seven days.
01:50With the larger size options, that makes sense because the rings are bigger, they can fit
01:54bigger batteries.
01:55The smaller options though, last about five days, which is on par with Ouro Ring.
01:59So besides Galaxy AI and that awesome charging case, there is a feature with the Galaxy Ring
02:03that I haven't seen on any smart ring before, and that is a double pinch gesture.
02:09Just like that.
02:10When you have your phone connected, double pinch will let you do remote content capture.
02:14If you've seen my videos before, you know I love anything camera remote or remote capture,
02:18so I'm really excited about this feature, but this feature can also be used to snooze
02:23your alarm.
02:24In many ways, it is similar to double tap for Apple Watch, but this is now just for
02:29Galaxy Ring.
02:30So this might surprise you.
02:31The Galaxy Ring is actually more expensive than the Galaxy Watch 7, starting at $399.
02:38I already know we're going to see this in conversation and reviews, but that is $100
02:42more than the Ouro Ring's starting price of $299.
02:45However, the debate you're going to hear is that Ouro charges a monthly membership fee
02:50in order to use the Ouro Ring and all of its features, whereas on the Galaxy Ring,
02:55everything in Galaxy Health comes at no additional cost.
02:59Guess how you feel about that?
03:00It depends on whether you'd rather pay more up front or on the later end with membership
03:04fees.
03:05But what do you think about that?
03:06And what do you think about the Galaxy Ring in general?
03:08Be sure to let me know all your questions in the comments section, and I'll be sure
03:11to get back to you.
03:12I also have my hands on with the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra live now, so be sure
03:17to check those out on our channel.
03:18Thanks for watching.
03:19I'll catch you next time.
