00:00Now it's a sit down with Sarah Drew.
00:02Hi, Sarah.
00:03Hi.
00:04There's no better way to kick off the holiday season
00:06than Hallmark.
00:07Your new series, Mistletoe Murders is premiering tonight.
00:10Tell us what we can expect.
00:11So it's a really fun six episode series.
00:15We have this beautiful Christmassy backdrop
00:17because we're in this sweet little lovely town
00:19called Fletcher's Grove.
00:20And my character, Emily runs a Christmas store
00:23and she's crazy for Christmas, this woman.
00:25But as people start to die,
00:28we start to realize that she's got some skills
00:30that a retail owner should not have.
00:33I just have one question for you, Emily Lane.
00:36Who are you really?
00:37It does have this cozy mystery noir feeling to it,
00:40but there's also a great amount of comedy.
00:44There's romance that is like gonna make your heart sing.
00:48There's drama,
00:49there's real cracking your heart open vulnerability.
00:52It kind of has everything.
00:54How did you say he died?
00:55I didn't.
00:56You've played many different characters,
00:58but your most important role, mom of two.
01:00Since the kids are a little older now,
01:01have they seen you on TV at all?
01:03Oh yeah.
01:04Oh yeah.
01:05They've seen a lot of my stuff.
01:06My daughter loves the romance.
01:09She's all in.
01:10My son wants to die when he sees my romance.
01:15If your kids wanted to go into acting one day,
01:17would you let them?
01:19I would say for now,
01:21I don't want you doing this professionally as children.
01:24I just, it's not, it's a grownup profession.
01:27And I know I've worked with some amazing kids
01:30and I know we need kids in our movies
01:31and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
01:33So I would say if that's where they wanna go down the road,
01:36cool, cool, cool.
01:37But not until they're out of my house.
01:41You recently spoke about the evolution
01:43of your relationship with Graze.
01:44Fans really miss you,
01:46but people forget that when something ends,
01:48it makes room for new, wonderful opportunities.
01:51What are some things that leaving Graze
01:52opened the door for, for you?
01:54I had such an incredible life-changing experience
01:59on that show.
02:00So I was able to leave the show all of a sudden
02:03with a platform and a fan base
02:05and like a name out in the world, you know?
02:10So it allowed me to kind of go,
02:13okay, what do I wanna do?
02:15Where do I wanna go next?
02:16And I'm producing and writing and directing now.
02:21And I don't think I would be making my own stuff
02:25if I was still on Graze.
02:26Maybe I would be, but I know that for me,
02:29walking out into the world, into the unknown world,
02:34really forced me to go, who do I wanna be?
02:37What stories do I wanna tell?
02:40How do I wanna expand as an artist?
02:43And I mean, I'm so grateful.
02:46I've stepped out into the world in a leadership role.
02:49And I think having the leadership role
02:52is now one of the greatest joys of my career.
02:55On a scale of one to 10,
02:57what are the chances that we'll see you back
02:58in those scrubs one day?
02:59I always say that that door is always open.
03:03That place is like family to me
03:05and I love going back and visiting.
03:07So, you know, ball's in their court, so.
03:12Finally, I'm gonna put 10 seconds on the clock.
03:14Tell everyone why they should check out
03:15Mistletoe Murders, ready?
03:17Go.
03:18Okay, if you like mystery,
03:19if you like Christmas,
03:20if you like Veronica Mars,
03:21this is a very Veronica Mars-y kind of show.
03:22If you like comedy, if you like romance,
03:24if you like action and adventure,
03:25you are going to love Mistletoe Murders.
03:27It is so good.
