00:00Better over than under, more than lacking or short.
00:04Hence, the Philippine National Police has beefed up its nationwide security force
00:08for the Days of the Dead celebration
00:11with over 10,000 more men and women law enforcers to field assignments.
00:16This, despite the latest zero-threat pronouncement by the PNP
00:21in all bus terminals, train stations, sea and airports,
00:25memorial parks and public places
00:28as PTV's Ryan Lizigas provides more context in this report.
00:35The Philippine National Police or PNP has further increased its personal deployment
00:39in anticipation of the influx of visitors to various cemeteries nationwide.
00:44As of today, nearly 32,000 officers have been deployed to crowded areas.
00:49These officers will be stationed at various cemeteries, public areas,
00:53bus terminals, seaports, airports and other busy locations.
00:58Despite the increase in manpower, PNP spokesperson, Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo clarified
01:03not having detected any threats related to the Undas celebration thus far as of yet.
01:08The situation remains peaceful in cemeteries across the country
01:11even as some people have already visited their departed loved ones.
01:15We expect today that the number of travelers will double.
01:21And as of earlier, we were informed based on our monitoring
01:25that our countrymen have also increased
01:29who have chosen to visit the cemeteries earlier.
01:34The PNP's deployment at terminals, cemeteries and other crowded areas will last until November 4.
01:40The PNP reminds travelers with automobiles to check their vehicles,
01:44such as batteries, lights, oil, water, gas, engines, tires and themselves
01:50or to blow baguettes, check up before long trips to avoid accidents.
01:54For those heading to cemeteries, do not bring or carry with you sharp and pointed objects
01:59as well as alcohol and flammable materials.
02:02We have also encountered things that are not authorized,
02:07like knives and other bladed and flammable materials.
02:13So we remind you not to go to cemeteries without permission
02:18because other guidelines and management of cemeteries have already been implemented.
02:23They also advise avoiding bringing small children to prevent them from getting lost in crowded cemeteries.
02:28All regional PNP offices remained on heightened alert.
02:32Our augmentation team remains in those affected areas
02:36to make sure that the police that are rendering relief and retrieval operations
02:43will not be able to leave those areas.
02:45Our augmentation team will be able to help in other police-related matters
02:52like patrolling and providing other public safety services to the said regions.
