00:00Hello from the Bureau with your National Weather Forecast for Thursday the 31st of October,
00:04as we look at what we're expecting heading into Friday.
00:07Our main watch points will be showers and storms across eastern parts of the country,
00:10but out in Western Australia, plenty of heat and extreme fire dangers.
00:14Let's start off first with a look at the synoptic map, and as we head into Thursday
00:17evening, we can expect to see showers and storms for eastern parts of New South Wales
00:21and South East Queensland.
00:23This does include Sydney, the Hunter and Northern Rivers, as well as Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
00:27So if you are heading out tonight in these areas, do be aware that we could see severe
00:30thunderstorms into tonight, and they could bring disruptions like flash flooding, as
00:34well as damage to trees and property, so keep an eye on the radar and any warnings heading
00:38into tonight.
00:39For the rest of the country, this high pressure system is keeping things mostly clear, and
00:43we'll just see a couple of isolated showers and storms across northern Australia.
00:47Heading into Friday, the first day of November, showers and storms will ease off the coast
00:51into the morning, but they will redevelop into the afternoon, and this high pressure
00:55system will finally get a bit of a move on.
00:57That means a drying trend for Tasmania and Victoria.
01:00This trough in Western Australia though is bringing a lot of heat from the interior,
01:04and that's headed to this cold front, which will move into southwestern parts of WA later
01:08into Friday night.
01:09So now a state by state look, starting off with Queensland.
01:11We'll be clear to start off in the morning, but showers and storms will redevelop into
01:15the afternoon.
01:16We could also see severe thunderstorms across South East and Queensland, including for Brisbane
01:19at the top of 30 degrees, warming inland with high fire dangers, but a drier day on the
01:24way across the north east tropical coast.
01:26For New South Wales, showers along the coast, possible storms north of Newcastle may be
01:31severe in the far north east of the state.
01:33For Sydney, a shower of 2 and 22 degrees.
01:35In Canberra, dry and 23, but warm out west with high fire dangers in some areas.
01:40For Victoria, a cool start, it will be cloudy in the south in the morning, with just a few
01:45showers along the coast, but that cloud will start to break up into the afternoon, and
01:48we'll see sunny skies returning statewide into the afternoon.
01:51Cooler in Melbourne, 17 degrees, warmer in the Mali, 25 up in Mildura.
01:56For Tasmania, showers for the west and the south of the state.
01:59The snow level will rise some 700 metres into the day.
02:02Hobart, a couple of showers of 15 degrees, warmer and drier across northern parts of
02:06the state.
02:07In South Australia, a little bit of morning cloud about the coast, but that will clear
02:10up into a mostly sunny day statewide.
02:12A little bit cooler about the south east with southerly winds, 17 degrees in Mount Gambier,
02:17warmer in Adelaide, 24 degrees, and into the mid 30s across northern parts of SA.
02:21In Western Australia, plenty of heat for the interior and the south.
02:24We'll see maximum temperatures up to 16 degrees above average for Esperance, warming
02:28right through the Wheatbelt with extreme fire dangers.
02:32Along the west coast though, southerly winds will keep the worst of the heat away, 28 degrees
02:35in Perth, warm across the Pilbara.
02:37Finally, across northern Australia, not much change when compared to the last few days.
02:42Still hot and humid, possible showers and storms for the Top End and Kimberley, 32 degrees
02:46in Darwin, 37 degrees in the interior.
