00:00Santa Ana, Cagayan is now down to signal number 2 from being signal number 3 due to the typhoon Leon.
00:06We will update you on the weather in the Philippines in the first news live of Jonathan Andal.
00:12Jonathan.
00:17Igan, there is no more rain. We are only experiencing a thunderstorm here.
00:21But the sky is still dark. The wind is not strong anymore.
00:26The wind is still blowing here but the storm surge is still strong.
00:29The storm surge became a problem yesterday here in Santa Ana, Cagayan.
00:32This is what I am standing on, the community here in Barangay Centro that was hit by the storm surge.
00:38This is behind me. This is a mound. But what you can see is only the roof or the iron left.
00:43The other part of the mound was eaten by the storm surge and the sea.
00:47This is also what I am standing on. It was not this low before. It was elevated.
00:51But the ground was eaten by the storm surge going to the sea.
00:55So what you can see here is a hole under the cemented concrete.
01:00This is where people used to walk.
01:02It means that the ground here in this part of Barangay Centro was eaten by the storm surge.
01:08This next to it is a resort.
01:10There are villas there, there are ponds that were also hit or affected by the damage of the storm surge.
01:17This is the alon. I will show it to you now.
01:20The alon is still big here in Santa Ana.
01:23And this concrete, this rectangle, is the seawall that was broken or damaged.
01:30You can see that the seawall here in Barangay Centro was pierced.
01:37So that is the latest from here in Santa Ana.
01:40Again, back to you, Igan.
01:42Is there any survivors? How many and where are they now, Jonathan?
01:48Igan, as of now, 1,000 families were evacuated here.
01:57Others are in schools.
01:59Those I talked to here in Barangay Hall, they were evacuated yesterday, Igan.
02:05Did the lion in Cagayan leave a trace?
02:12Yes, this. So far, this is the trace we have seen.
02:16The storm surge destroyed the structures here in Santa Ana, Cagayan.
02:22The problem now of the Cagayan Provincial Government is that they don't have a calamity fund anymore.
02:27They don't have a fund to repair the damaged infrastructure here.
02:32That is why they are calling on the national government for an additional calamity fund.
02:37Igan.
02:38Thank you very much, Jonathan Andal.
