00:08let me pay tribute to the two excellent maiden speeches we've heard so far in
00:13this debate from Erewash and Bolsover and particularly I hope that
00:22the communities, former mining people from former mining communities
00:27are listening into this debate because I'm sure they'll have some choice words
00:32to say about a Conservative talking about de-industrialisation and in Wales
00:37we will never forget what the Conservatives did to our industries, the
00:41jobs that they've taken and the futures they took away from people and Wales
00:45stands ready to play its role again. Yes of course. Thank you, so do you therefore
00:49appreciate why we're so concerned on this side that the plans coming forth
00:54from Labour government is going to do exactly the same to North East Scotland
00:57if this is not handled properly? Well thank the Honourable Member for that
01:03contribution. De-industrialisation has been happening for a
01:08very long time across the United Kingdom and we're yet to see a real industrial
01:14strategy that would restore the wealth, prosperity and jobs that used to exist
01:20across our industrial areas, across the entire United Kingdom. Wales stands ready
01:26to play its part in powering the United Kingdom once again but this time Wales
01:33would like to experience the tangible benefits from these projects. Within my
01:38constituency Llangathog Green Valleys has the ambition to develop plans for a
01:43large community-owned renewable energy scheme to supply premises in the
01:47Crickhower region. The scheme will have a mix of technologies such as solar,
01:52hydro, wind and storage to give a year-round supply of energy. It will be
01:57developed from the start in consultation with the community, it will be managed by
02:01the community and the profits will benefit the community itself. As Liberal
02:06Democrats we are firm believers that this is exactly the model of community
02:11ownership that will provide communities with security and prosperity well into
02:16the future and therefore it's for that reason I urge all members to support
02:22amendment 5 and ensure that the Great British Energy Bill puts the principle
02:26of community ownership at the very front and centre of what the government is
02:30trying to achieve.
