In October 2022, Krissy Miller saw a Facebook post about a man who needed a kidney. “I tried scrolling on, but I just kept getting drawn back,” says, Miller, a 49-year-old stay-at-home mother to four girls and a licensed social worker. “I thought, 'If that were my husband, I'd want someone to help.’ And then I thought, 'If everyone thinks someone else can do it, no one's going to do it.’ ”

00:00So I just thought, I can't donate a kidney, there's like too much going on for, you know.
00:05But I just kept getting the thoughts to keep doing it.
00:20The doctor even told me, he's like, you know, if you lose like 10 pounds,
00:24it'd probably come down. Being a girl, you might as well say lose 100 pounds.
00:28It was winter and I just didn't want to feel like a failure, honestly.
00:44I decided to say a prayer, which is a normal thing I do before hiking. I said a specific
00:50prayer about Heavenly Father, guide my thoughts to help me know
00:56if I should pursue this or if I just need to let it go. Help me know.
01:13And that's when she was like, oh transplant this. And I said, oh, by the way, I'm waiting for
01:20kidney transplant. And immediately she like looked up to the heaven.
01:31I remember thinking, if I'm willing to donate to anyone,
01:34why not this person standing right in front of me?
01:44She's like, I'm giving you my kidney. And that's when my wife and I started to
01:49shed tears because it was like, wow.
02:08It's a modern day miracle.
02:10I feel just as great, but I feel better mentally and spiritually.
02:20I'd encourage people to donate. It's been a wonderful experience and I gained two new
02:26friends. Well, more than two friends, it's kids too, but two really good friends.
