00:00The government is trying to consider the cost of employment before setting a budget for foreign workers.
00:10The President of the Malaysian Private Employment Agency, Fiona Loh, said that employers employ foreign workers at various costs,
00:20including annual payments of up to RM1,850, medical, transportation, food and drink checks.
00:29On October 21, the KWSP announced a mandatory coverage for non-citizen workers
00:36as an effort to expand social protection under the 2025 Spending Announcement Order, which obliges it.
00:43Following the announcement, Ahmad Razman Abdul Latif from Putra Business School suggested that
00:49the KWSP budget for the group should be set at between 13% and 15%
00:55to avoid the flow of cash outflow as a result of a minimum wage increase of RM1,700.
01:02In that regard, Fiona also encouraged the government to consider an easy mechanism for the issuance of the KWSP
01:08for foreign citizens as it will affect the group whether they want to work in Malaysia or not.
