00:00Maybe the most exciting, dreadful, terrific, awful, depending on how you feel about the
00:09ending yesterday outside the nation's capital, in Landover, Maryland, a matchup of one versus
00:15two to even see Jaden Daniels, the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft was rather
00:21shocking.
00:22He had not practiced really all week, came out for a little bit on Friday, but we got
00:27word that he would start in this game against the number one overall selection in Caleb
00:32Williams.
00:33And Jaden Daniels made his impact throughout and especially at the end.
00:38As time expires, Washington down by three after Roshon Johnson plunges across the pylon
00:45under a minute to put Chicago up by three points.
00:50Time expires.
00:51He's under no pressure.
00:52He lets all of his wide receivers get down there.
00:55Tyreke Stevenson is drawing with fans in the stands for the commanders, Bears fans
01:00sitting there near the goal line are saying, get back.
01:03The play has started.
01:04Get back over there.
01:05So Tyreke Stevenson decides, oh, OK, I'll try to go make a play, tips the ball up and
01:10into the waiting arms of the commander's wide receiver, Noah Brown, in the end zone, a Hail
01:16Mary victory for Washington.
01:19Hail to the commanders.
01:21Indeed, they win 18 to 15 on one of the wildest plays you'll ever see in the National Football
01:28League.
01:29Incredible calamity at the end, but also, Ben, let's get back to the point that the
01:31Chicago Bears were getting throttled for 98 percent of this game and somehow miraculously
01:37took a lead at the end.
01:38Say something for the coaches, which is going to be nice, which I'm going to get angry with
01:41in just a few moments.
01:42They had that team battled back and ready to go.
01:44And this team was believing in each other, but the head coach had no idea how to close
01:48it out.
01:49So it was a wonderful starting pitching performance, which means that my starter went eight innings.
01:54And instead of bringing the closer, I try to bring in the single a guy and he blows
01:57the lead late in the game.
01:59Let's get to what actually happened on that last drive, because that's my focus here.
02:02And I'm going to get to another play in this game, too, which was hilarious in itself.
02:06But when you're in Hail Mary range, right, Ben, I don't understand why the defenses do
02:10this.
02:11Now, do you want to run a zero blitz man on the outside with no single safety high?
02:14No, you don't want to do that.
02:16But what you want to do is say, I'm just going to make it a little bit harder.
02:19The play before the Hail Mary was so egregious and embarrassing that I have no idea what
02:23they were doing.
02:24You basically said, we're going to play Hail Mary defense twice.
02:27If they want to get whatever yards they want, who cares as long as they don't score a touchdown,
02:31which put them in range for a Hail Mary.
02:33Now, granted, you still shouldn't be able to get the Hail Mary.
02:35It's a tough play to pull off.
02:37But the fact that you rushed three players and the best part about Matt Iberflug is a
02:41defensive coordinator.
02:43Ben, he had a spy as his fourth guy out there, as if Dayton Daniels is going to run 75 yards
02:48through 19 players to score a touchdown all by himself.
02:52It's so simple, Ben.
02:53If you rush four players up front and then you have the linebacker who has no job in
02:57the middle of that field because a dump ball pass doesn't matter at that point, you bring
03:00him on a delayed blitz.
03:02The quarterback doesn't have time to step up or stand up in the pocket.
03:05He's probably not even going to get that pass off.
03:07You let him do whatever he wanted out there to allow him to throw a pass deep, which still
03:11should have been knocked down and it didn't happen.
03:13But two ridiculous errors.
03:15The play before the Hail Mary and then calling a three-man rush when he had 17 seconds in
03:19the pocket to throw that football and it ends up in a touchdown.
