The movie *Southern Shaolin Sect* is set against the backdrop of a war with the Wokou (Japanese pirates) during the 29th year of Emperor Jiajing’s reign. In the conflict against the Wokou, Trien Tuong and his youngest son, Trien Hao, are rescued by warrior monks from the Southern Shaolin Temple, while his middle son, Trien Bang, is captured by the Wokou leader, Tam Chi Do Dien, who later adopts him.

Trien Tuong, having practiced swordsmanship since childhood, is haunted by painful memories of the past and has developed a deep-seated fear of warfare, despising martial arts. This aversion drives him to secretly flee from the temple, disguising himself as a mute wanderer. Meanwhile, Tam Chi Do Dien renames Trien Bang as Tam Chi Luan Bo and teaches him advanced saber techniques. Trien Bang quickly becomes an exceptional fighter in the martial arts world. Under Do Dien’s influence, Trien Bang transforms into a bloodthirsty and ruthless individual, even willing to kill Do Dien in his quest to seize his foster father’s position. Trien Hao, on the other hand, remains in the Southern Shaolin Temple, where he is diligently trained by the warrior monks, taking monastic vows under the dharma name Thich Khu Chap.

Each of the three brothers follows his own path with differing ambitions, yet they are ultimately drawn back into another brutal conflict…
