00:00From manufacturing a Nokia and Xiaomi batteries in India, to launching the first hybrid plug-in
00:11in the world, and now being the global bestsellers amongst EV, BYD has really left a strong mark
00:20in the whole electric vehicle game, not just in India, but globally.
00:28And now with me is the all new eMark 7, a redesign and the evolution of the BYD e6.
00:39Now all of this at a price point of 27 lakhs as the base variant to 30 lakhs at the top
00:45end variant.
00:46I'm going to show you guys what all this car has to offer.
00:54Welcome to DriveSpark, I'm Vedant Johari and let's jump right into this video.
01:04So now let's start off with the design elements of the eMark 7.
01:08First off, if you just look at the front, well it resembles sort of a sea animal, maybe
01:13a dolphin, maybe a seal, you really can't say, but the front end looks very different,
01:18something very unique, and we get the BYD logo massively placed right in the centre,
01:25we get LED headlamps in a very sleek, in a very sleek style, we don't get a grill on
01:30this obviously because this is an electric vehicle, we get a skid plate at the bottom
01:35with a few air vents located right here.
01:37Apart from that we get chrome inserts all over the front such as the BYD logos in chrome,
01:41we get a brushed aluminium finish on top of our headlamp, we get chrome at the bottom
01:45of our headlamp and at the bottom of our bumper.
01:48Now we get integrated indicators as well in the front, located right where our headlamp
01:54unit is and also we get these small air vents at the front for increased airflow to the
02:00wheels.
02:01Apart from that we get a sort of scooped up hood with very very subtle lines on it, all
02:06over this car you really don't see anything extreme, you don't see anything major in terms
02:11of design, it's very simple, it's very subtle and it's to the point, what you see is what
02:16you get.
02:17Now moving to the side of the car, we get 17-inch wheels all over, all four disc brakes
02:23in the top end variant.
02:24So apart from the brushed aluminium on the roof frame, we get chrome inserts located
02:28at the bottom on our skirt and all over the side as I said before.
02:33Now not just chrome, we also see piano black finish all over the side of the car such as
02:37on our door frame, on our ORVM and also on the ORVM, we get a camera for our 360 degree
02:44camera and we get an integrated indicator.
02:47Now the ORVMs are all electronically adjustable, but I'll come to that once I'm sitting inside
02:52the car.
02:53Now moving on from the front end, let's look at what we get on the rear quarter of the
02:57car.
02:58Now the rear quarter also we get a small window for the people in the third row, I'll show
03:02you the third row seating once I jump inside the car and apart from that we get PACE written
03:06over here because, just to signify to the public that this is a spacious vehicle, it
03:11is placed in the luxury MPV segment, so we do expect there to be certain amount of room
03:18inside the vehicle.
03:19Now moving on to the rear section, complete rear of the car, we get a connecting tail
03:24light first that stands out extremely, now a split style tail lamp as well which moves
03:31on to the quarter panel of the car and all the lighting that we get on the BYD is LED
03:37lighting, we don't see any halogen lighting on this car.
03:40At the top we get this sort of roof spoiler again with a brake light, we get a shark fin
03:45antenna located right at the top, some defoggers on our rear window, chrome elements located
03:50at the rear, just above the connecting light bar, the BYD sign is also in chrome, the EMAX
03:577 and we also get a chrome element as a rear skid plate.
04:01We get two reflectors at the back, one on the left and one on the right.
04:05Now sensors are seen at the rear, at the front, all for our parking assist and for all the
04:10assist that we require while driving.
04:12The charging port located at the top and for our vehicle to load capacity we have a small
04:16charger located right at the bottom.
04:20So now that I'm standing at the back, let me quickly show you guys the boot space that
04:23we get on the EMAX 7.
04:26So now the boot that we get as you saw is automatic, you just need to press the button
04:30for it to open and now this is the boot space.
04:33So I've put one of the third row seats down for you to show you what it can extend like.
04:38Now this is the complete boot space that we get with both the third row seats down
04:45and now if I lift them up and now with the third row seats lifted up, this is the amount
04:52of boot space that you get.
04:54It's really not a lot, however, you can fit your basic necessities such as a regular knapsack
05:00or a few of your groceries that you're carrying with you.
05:03If you want to fit luggage, if you want to fit something bigger, you will have to put
05:07your third row seats down and compromise on a little bit of space.
05:11Now let's jump to the interior of the car and I'll show you what all features we get
05:15inside and how comfortable it is and how premium it is on the inside of this car.
05:25So getting into the driver's seat, firstly the ingress and egress of this car is extremely
05:30easy, you aren't hitting yourself anywhere.
05:33Now the seat is set up for my driving position.
05:35I'm 6'1", for example, and I'm extremely comfortable.
05:39The seat is really soft, it's really cushioning, the headrest also is almost perfectly placed.
05:45We do get an adjustable headrest in case you require it.
05:48The seats that we get is electronically adjustable, you can move it up, down, front, back.
05:54You can also tilt it based on your comfort.
05:57The steering wheel also has tilt and telescopic adjustment settings, as you can see, you can
06:02move it towards you or further back and you can move it up or down, again, based on your
06:08driving preference.
06:09Now we get a very neat Ohaika animation on the infotainment system and as you guys know,
06:17BYD is known for their rotating infotainment system and we get the same thing on this.
06:20A 12.3-inch screen that we can also turn vertical for when we require it.
06:27Now, apart from that, so we get two main analogue meters on this, one is showing your amount
06:33of battery use, the battery consumption and the other is your speed and located right
06:37at the centre, we have the MID, which shows us all our basic settings, which is which
06:43driving mode we're in, it has TPMS, it shows us which doors are open and so on and so forth.
06:50Coming to the steering wheel, well, on the steering wheel is where we have all our, again,
06:54basic controls, such as to flip the infotainment system horizontal or vertical, basic ADAS
07:01sensors are here, such as forward collision warning and we have our music controls located
07:06on this as well.
07:07If you want to answer or decline your calls, all of that can be done through the steering
07:11wheel itself.
07:12Now, coming to the gear shifter, well, the gear shifter looks extremely premium and looks
07:18extremely classy and we have a park, reverse, neutral and drive options on this.
07:24Coming to all the buttons and all the options we get here, well, we get a volume control
07:27over here, we get our main blower control here to switch it on or off, our auto start
07:32stop, driving modes and again, as I said, all your basic control.
07:37Now, here's where we have our wireless phone charger, we have two slots for that and on
07:42the right side, we have an NFC reader as well.
07:45Coming to the dash of the car, well, it's all hard plastic and it's extremely premium
07:50to the touch, to look at and just to experience when you're inside the cabin.
07:55The whole cabin gives you a very plush feel, a very, very good feel when you're sitting
07:59inside it.
08:00Now, for storage, we get storage options in our glove box here, we get a small storage
08:04unit right here, two cup holders, a phone holder located right here and on either side
08:10of the door frame, we get a small portal holder.
08:13On the EMAX 7, we don't get a complete sunroof, we just get a panoramic glass roof and I'm
08:18going to show you that, so as you guys can see, the whole sunroof that we get is massive,
08:23you can see end to end and when you're going for your night drives or when you're going
08:27for a sunset or sunrise drive, it's going to be beautiful for when you're sitting inside
08:32the car.
08:33So, that's pretty much it in the front, let me jump to the second row and show you the
08:37seating space and how it is to be a passenger in this car.
08:43So, now getting into the second row of the car and so the driver's seat is for my positioning
08:50and again, for my height of person, my height around 6 feet tall, it's going to be extremely
08:56comfortable at the rear, however, the under thigh support is a little less, you do feel
09:03a little uncomfortable but overall, it's not compromising a lot of comfort.
09:09The seat makes up for it, your knee space in the front, it may feel a little limited
09:14but it's still extremely comfortable, you have a lot of headroom and if you want to
09:19recline, you can recline your seat as well, so you can recline it quite a bit and sitting
09:25like this, you're extremely comfortable in the car.
09:28Now, a few more features that we get in the rear seat is we get an air vent located at
09:34the top right here, we get blower controls for the second row passengers right here and
09:42we get a type A and a type C socket, now, apart from that, we get ISOFIX child mounts
09:48on the second row seats, not on the third row seats.
09:50Now, for storage in the second row, well, we get, again, a small storage unit for our
09:55bottles on the door frame and located in the seat in front of you, we get one main storage
10:00unit and two smaller storage units on top in case you want to fit a phone, a small water
10:04bottle or stuff like that.
10:06Now, that's pretty much it for the second row seats, let me jump to the third row seats
10:10and show you all the space that we get.
10:12So now, seated in the third row seat, I'm extremely cramped, this is not a seat for
10:17a regular size adult, be it 5'6", 5'7", it's gonna feel, even they're gonna feel very cramped
10:23in the rear seat but let's just talk about what all we get here, we get, again, a small
10:27bottle holder or cup holder on either side, we get a small window, AC vents at the rear
10:33and we get an adjustable headrest as well.
10:36So, for me, I will have to raise it but once you raise it, it does make it a little more
10:42comfortable but you cannot sit here for a long duration of time.
10:47You also get seatbelts for the third row passengers and finally, the last thing that you get is
10:54this small grab handle for the rear passengers.
10:58So that's pretty much it for the interior-exterior design of the car, features of the car and
11:01seating comfort, now let me take you guys for a spin, show you how it is to drive, all
11:07the driving modes that we get and how the ADAS works on the E-MAX 7.
11:18So now, we're driving the BYD E-MAX 7 and I'm gonna tell you about the battery options,
11:23how it is to drive and the power figures and everything that you guys need to know.
11:27So first off, let's talk about the battery, we get two battery options on the E-MAX 7,
11:31we get a 55.4 kilowatt-hour and we get a 71.8 kilowatt-hour battery.
11:38Now in terms of power, the 55.4 kilowatt-hour battery puts out around 120 kilowatts of power,
11:44however, the 71.8 kilowatt-hour battery puts out 150 kilowatts of power.
11:51In terms of the torque figures, both battery options see the same values at 310 Newton
11:56meters, so that was the battery run-through, now talking about how it is to drive, well,
12:04it's extremely comfortable, the suspension setup is brilliant, it's perfect for a city
12:08vehicle and even for passengers in the car, it's really comfortable, the rear seat is
12:15very good, it's not uncomfortable, it's not, it doesn't make you feel cramped, it's overall
12:21a very very good experience while driving.
12:24We have comfort, we have good performance, but how is the range, well range on this is
12:28around 536 kilometers on a single charge, but that again depends on how heavy you are
12:34on the throttle or how light you are.
12:36So now we've driven around 80 to 90 kilometers, we started with a 100% charge and now we're
12:41down to 65%.
12:43So that's not really bad, we could still go another 300 kilometers pretty easily.
12:49So if you're getting around 400 kilometers on a single charge, 300 kilometers on a single
12:53charge, that's still really really good for an everyday vehicle.
12:58The battery that we get is known as a blade battery, so what's a blade battery, well it's
13:04just basically a term that they call and this battery has been redesigned to be 50% lighter
13:09than a regular electric vehicle battery and it takes up less space than what a regular
13:15battery would generally take up.
13:17So the battery has gone through a variety of tests, being 50% lighter, it also has to
13:22be safe.
13:24So safety tests have been done and one of those tests were, PYD got a truck to drive
13:31over the battery and there was still no leakage from the battery, you know, it didn't get
13:37weak, it didn't blow up, nothing happened, it still remained intact.
13:41So that is really really good on PYD's part for also taking care of the safety aspect
13:45of it.
13:46So finally let's talk about the regen and the driving modes that we get.
13:50So on this we get three driving modes, eco, normal and sport, where eco is the easiest
13:55on throttle, the throttle calibration is very simple, however, on sport mode it's the complete
14:01opposite, you have the power right from the Ketco, the motor just wants to pull you along,
14:08just wants to take you along and for regen we get two levels of regen, we get standard
14:14and larger, standard is your basic amount of regen and larger is basically a stronger
14:19regen and it can all be controlled, even the driving modes can be controlled easily through
14:25these two small levers located on the centre console.
14:30So all in all that was our review of the PYD eMAX 7, I hope you guys enjoyed this video,
