00:00Right now, Lamar Jackson is returning 2-1, and he's kind of separating himself from the
00:07rest of the field.
00:08But there's a conversation to be had, because if we can look back two, three weeks ago,
00:13you were kind of foreseeing this happening, weren't you?
00:17Yeah, look, I think that Lamar Jackson right now is certainly the guy that should be the
00:22top of the board.
00:23He's plus 200.
00:24Patrick Mahomes was the initial bet in the year.
00:27I will always stick with Patrick Mahomes.
00:29You can write this narrative that even though the stats aren't good, he is willing his team
00:33to win, which is also very impressive.
00:35So it comes down to how much do those stats matter.
00:37Now, if stats matter, you're looking from a passing standpoint, well, Lamar Jackson
00:41has 1,800 passing yards, and Patrick Mahomes has just 1,300.
00:44Lamar Jackson has 15 touchdowns to two interceptions, and well, let's just say Patrick Mahomes is
00:50not where he wanted to be.
00:51He has just six touchdowns and eight interceptions.
00:54That's not very Mahomes-like.
00:56So he's far behind.
00:57Now, who else is in striking distance is what's interesting here.
01:00Jared Goff, 1,600, just 10 passing touchdowns, but only four interceptions.
01:06Josh Allen, 12 touchdowns, zero interceptions.
01:11So all these other guys right now are really interesting bets if you want to make it.
01:15Because if you're looking at the NFC and the way Dallas can't get out of their own way,
01:20the Eagles certainly don't look dominant.
01:23I would say that you look at the 49ers, also a team that is not trending in a good direction
01:28right now.
01:29It just feels like things are fraying at the seams there.
01:32If Detroit really dominates the NFC here in the second half, maybe Jared Goff starts to
01:37get some attention for this award.
01:39And I know that's kind of a hard sell because people go, Jared Goff, really?
01:44But what if they're a 13-win team at the end of the day?
01:49They might be.
01:50They might be a 14-win team when all is said and done, right?
01:53They might be just housing everybody in the NFC, and if they do, and if they win this
01:58conference by a lot, you might be looking at the scenario where Jared Goff, or even
02:04Josh Allen on the other side too, especially if Maury Cooper's there, maybe to pad those stats.
02:08I don't think this race is done, I guess is the point I'm making here.
02:12But it's harder and harder to justify Mahomes statistically as part of it at this point.
02:16I agree.
