00:00Graduates take their own paths in their creative shots.
00:04But this one takes a different path.
00:07Is that so?
00:12As November approaches,
00:14conversations are becoming more and more important.
00:27But this is the heart we know.
00:31Aren't you nervous about those things?
00:36Because Halloween is still a theme for graduation?
00:47In this viral graduation pictorial,
00:50it's not the family,
00:52friends,
00:54or medals that are important.
00:57It's the student.
00:59Literally, the creative shot is deadly
01:02because of what he did,
01:04and all of it.
01:09In Balete Aklan, we met Mike Navarrete,
01:12a nursing graduate and the son of the owner of a funeral home.
01:16What I really want is to thank my parents
01:19for the effort they put in for me.
01:21That's what I really thought,
01:23to show them where we came from.
01:26According to Mike,
01:28graduating from college wasn't easy
01:30because of the hardship of life.
01:33But his parents did their best
01:35to support his education.
01:38They really wanted to graduate,
01:40but they couldn't do it on their own,
01:43so they did it with us.
01:45There was a time when my two siblings were stopped from going to school
01:49so that one could finish school.
01:52In the past, there were deaths every day.
01:54Their salary was only per head.
01:57Unexpectedly,
01:59Mike's father suddenly fell ill.
02:02At work hours,
02:04he was attacked by a stroke.
02:07He cried every night.
02:09His mother couldn't walk either.
02:13When I checked his mother's wallet,
02:15it was empty.
02:16Because their salary wasn't enough.
02:23This was followed by the storm Yolanda,
02:26which caused heavy flooding in various places.
02:32The storm Yolanda was hard for us to endure
02:36because our house was also damaged.
02:39So we decided to start a business.
02:43But the storm was like a blessing.
02:47We received a partial 10K.
02:50That's what my mother and father did
02:53so that we could start our own business.
02:56The parents had been working for 14 years
02:59since the death of their son.
03:04So it was time for them to build their own poneraria
03:08right above their house.
03:11We didn't have a car,
03:13just a motorcycle.
03:14The children we brought were still small.
03:17So we had to carry them around
03:20to the service station
03:22to ask for help.
03:24But despite their hard work,
03:26they still couldn't avoid being attacked by other people.
03:30Why is this our business?
03:33If there's a birthday party,
03:36we invite them,
03:38but they don't go
03:39because they say that our food
03:41comes from the insides of people.
03:44Mike didn't pay attention to the children.
03:47What's important is that his family is working hard.
03:51I just want to let other people know
03:53that because of those people,
03:55that became a way for us to finish our studies at the same time.
03:59I'm proud of our family business
04:02because that's where we lived.
04:04For others,
04:05afraid of death,
04:06this is where Mike goes every day to live.
04:10It's just an ordinary day.
04:12We just go inside the house
04:14and there's someone lying there.
04:15It's like someone else is sleeping in the house.
04:18My nieces and nephews,
04:19they're not afraid anymore
04:21because they go up to the roof
04:23to see who's inside the house.
04:25The good news of the story of Mike's family
04:28When we know that they have a problem with money matters,
04:33that's when we adjust our price.
04:35Who would have thought
04:37that their family would have a funeral?
04:41Papa and Mama have already funded
04:43two vehicles for our business.
04:46Then for the furniture,
04:48and of course,
04:49the three of us siblings finished our studies.
04:52I'm thankful because that's what Mama and Papa did.
04:56For now,
04:57Mike is busy reviewing.
04:59His lifelong dream
05:02is to help parents
05:04when he becomes a licensed embalmer.
05:07Good luck!
05:08If you have one,
05:09give back to your parents.
05:12They say
05:13we can't bring wealth to the table.
05:16But success
05:18and a kind heart
05:20for a lifetime
05:21is what people remember.
