00:00Congrats Zoe. Thank you mom. It's an honor to be here tonight to introduce my
00:11very talented friend Amy Adams. I first met Amy during what used to be known as
00:22pilot season R.I.P. back in 1999. Yeah sorry to be dating us to the last
00:32century but there it is. We were both auditioning for Manchester Prep. It was a
00:41prequel TV series to the hit film that we did not star in Cruel Intentions but
00:47Selma's here. Selma is still here and Amy got the part. She was 26 playing 16.
01:05She has always had that sweet smile, those bright eyes that make her seem
01:11younger than her years but they cannot hide the very deep well of life
01:18experience that I know she pulls from as an artist. That is her superpower. Sweet
01:26and spicy. Those dimples that bring you in like when she's playing Giselle in
01:32Enchanted and the fire that puts you in your goddamn place like when she's
01:37playing that fucking character from the fucking fighter. It's kind of hard to
01:44believe that the same person played both those roles. It's like a magic trick but
01:48that's you Amy. One of the lessons that Amy is teaching me is how to have a
01:55real fuck it attitude about aging in this industry.
02:06We are the same age. Well I'm a few months older. Whatever. She never brings
02:11it up but she is not slowing down at all. She's leading by example working with
02:20acclaimed directors like Taika Waititi and Mariel Heller. She's producing.
02:25That's just the past few months. Amy your performance in Night Bitch is
02:30wonderfully fuck it too. It's free, it's wickedly funny, ferocious literally as
02:38mother. That you are thriving in this industry is a testament to your talent,
02:44perseverance, work ethic. And I am so grateful to be on this journey together
02:49with you. I know I can speak for both of us when I say that the icon Carol Burnett
02:57is the bar in every regard.
03:04We love you Carol. You originated the fuck it mentality. Amy has received
03:13countless accolades for her work as an actress and producer. SAG, BAFTA, Globes,
03:18six Academy Award nominations. But tonight it is so wonderful to see her
03:23honored for the person that she is. Someone who always wins karaoke. Not that
03:29it's a competition. Besides being an endearing goof of a friend to me, Amy is
03:38an incredible mom to Avi, a true partner to Darren, a great sister. And tonight
03:44highlights her work as ambassador for the Right Way Foundation, which gives
03:50young people aging out of foster care the resources they need to build a life
03:53for themselves. Amy is always thinking about the people around her, trying to
03:58build a better world for us and the next generation. So please join me in
04:03congratulating and welcoming kind, caring, generous, talented Amy Adams.
