00:00Today, our objective is that we're trying to reduce this sort of particularly hazardous
00:10fuel loading and accumulation for a future burn, and so we're also trying to really bring
00:16a lot of prescribed fire into these areas.
00:19So it's pretty exciting to see the Forest Service, the tribe, Mi'kwek, and other groups
00:24coming together, getting our people out on the hill at the right time of year, and starting
00:29to try some innovative techniques for, you know, burning more acres and burning more
00:35acres more safely.
00:38Part of what we're doing with the SOMES project is looking at not only meeting our human goals,
00:44but are we meeting the goals of the plants and animals that we're coexisting here with.
00:50As we see the gradual push towards prescribed burns and other preventive measures, the urgency
00:56is still greater than ever.
00:58We still have to consider other factors, including radical shifts in weather and climate.
